The finish is only strong enough to make it more interesting. The basic character is still clearly perceptible.

Another wood finish from the Slyrs distillery at Schliersee. This time, the whisky first matured in fresh American white oak for three years and was then finished in casks prefilled with the Sicilian fortified wine. The length of the finishing is not specified.

    • Nose
The Slyrs whiskys have a similar basic character that you have to like. They are young and there are bitter aromas in the nosing, fermentation aromas, as they also rise from the washbacks, and then a woody background. They are young, they initially mature in fresh oak barrels - all of this is noticeable here and is not sufficiently compensated by the Marsala.
    • Taste
The whisky has a tart taste with a woody basic character. There is also a hint of red fruit, some cherries, but these flavors don't really come through and lack enough sweetness to come to the fore.
    • Finish
The finish isn't overly long and lasting, but it's not like you'd want more length either.

Like the other Slyrs finishings, this Marsala has not matured well. Maybe it's a little better than the Madeira. For me he is too young and too bitter.

    Nice fresh aroma.

In the mouth it is then very light and without depth. Actually just spicy and almost no taste.

    Short and very dry finish.

For around 60 € I can get much better whiskys.
