This is clearly a sherry whisky, cherry jam with chocolate, some tobacco and notes of coffee. There is also some wood. The whisky is sweet, but also has strong alcohol in the nose. The sweetness has caramel and light forest honey aspects. Even after adding water, the sherry notes remain dark and strong. But the alcohol is still noticeable.
It is a classic PX aged whisky. The taste also comes from the cherry juice with a small admixture of sour cherries. The alcohol is also strong in taste, but after adding water it is no longer burning, but gives the whisky a pleasant sharpness. For PX, the whisky is not too sweet, but also develops woody and tart notes with chocolate and nuts.
In the aftertaste, the whisky becomes drier without being bitter or astringent, has a nice oak aspect - but the cherry jam remains on the palate.
Perhaps the alcohol is a little too strong, which disturbs the harmony slightly - overall it's a nice PX aged whisky with all the expected and hoped for notes that are well connected and not just put on. A nice, tasty whisky.
