The smell is stronger than all the Hassoben I have ever drunk. Genting-style concentrated orange juice, microcomputer oil, aroma of stewed pork, smell of sweat, sea salt, fresh red apple pulp, citrus peel without peat, heavier, relatively raw mango pulp, old leather. The skeleton has a strong, mature aroma, roasted nuts, mixed nuts, citrus notes, canned apples, yellow peaches. 89

Slightly less high-class, Speyside Citrus Shirley, with barley sugar as the skeleton, fuller apple pear juice, ripe orange juice, grapefruit juice, grapefruit peel, slightly astringent, slightly mango aroma, mint. The fat is medium, the wine power is medium, the mouth is slightly irritating, and the finish is slightly worse. p87b85

Citrus fragrance, bitter grapefruit peel, pepper, pure black, slightly heavier. 86

Tasting notes based on a 2cl sample from the "Springbank New and Forthcoming Releases - Virtual Tasting 2021" tasting pack. This was one of my favourites from the pack, and as delighted as I would be to try it again, I suspect the RRP will be a bit off-putting when it gets released. (Never mind the secondary market prices!)

Typical "funk" at first; barnyard, wet grass. There is also a slightly sharp fruity note, like a crisp white wine. Further nosing reveals some figs, dates, raisins etc. buried underneath. Buried even deeper is some stewed apple, rhubarb and custard.

Very nutty on the palate. Perfectly integrated oak. Milk chocolate, praline. Very smooth.

Superb: Lingering and confident, with a wonderful mix of smooth sweetness and mild spice. Wonderful almond note.

Tropifrutti meets Maggi meets chicken soup in the nose. The fruit is dominant. In the mouth it is very oily, heavily malty-sweet with a hint of port aroma from the mother's still. Great debut for the 21 year old showjumper ... er Hazelburn.

Surprisingly distillate-driven, considering the age. That being said, it doesn't appear youthful, which is unsurprising, considering the age. Classic Hazelburn with no rough edges.
