Aber Falls Inaugural Release Bottle #321, 46%, Whisgi Cymreig.

    At Melody, March 2022.

    It’s a mid-tone amber.

Aroma is pear in syrup, soft apple and orange notes, water that’s been infused with tangerines. Plenty of orchard fruit and orange fruit.

Taste is biscuit, soft subtle notes of salt, wood, coffee, tangerine.

It’s so well-put-together for a first release from a new distillery. I’m impressed. A pleasant quaffing whisky with some complexity. Oof that’s not bad at all. Carries its flavours well against the alcohol and water – never seems underpowered nor too prickly.

As I say, it's just impressively constructed with a soft but enjoyable flavour profile. My guess is that some will complain about it being boring but for me there’s nothing boring about a whisky that has been made this well. I will look out for other chances to try whiskies from this distillery. 3.6/86

Very disappointing first release from this new welsh distillery.

Plums, figs, caramel, cereals, young and basic, but not bad, like drinking biscuits

Pleasantly surprised by this first release from Aber Falls. Smoother than I would have expected from a 3yo & not so new makey as some other younglings out there. My score also took into consideration presentation & value for money.

I bought two so have opened one and one to put away - queues at the distillery and a crashed webshop and other online sales made this a tricky bottle to acquire with just 2000 released.

A surprisingly rich colour due to age - three years and a bit old - but has been in a range of pipes.

I was genuinely impressed, I thought this would be a raw sharp young one but it is far far from it.

Nose - a nice marmalade, light wood, rich fruits, a bountiful christmas cake being made, polished wood floors.

Taste- Full and rich, hints of orange peels that have just been bent, background of tobacco and wood.

    Finish- Dark fruits, pleasing warmth

    Open yours and taste it.
