Whisky Reviews for Glenlochy 1980 SV

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.28 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Very dense and juicy whisky, deep, full-bodied, alas, cardboard and bitter notes, manifested in the development, spoil the overall picture quite strongly
    • Nose
Discreet, moist, noble wood, roasted nuts, wood dust, floral notes, creamy pastry shades, raisins, wet cardboard.
    • Taste
Powerful, saturated, oak, raisins, burnt caramel, burnt jam, sweet creamy notes, earthy tones, puer, in the development of a lot of bitter bark, cardboard, sweet citrus-caramel shades, cappuccino, dark chocolate.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, burnt crackers, metallic acidity, raisins, creamy notes, buttery pastry tones.

  2. detachedblue scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Big, old style, and oily, maybe some peat? Golden fruits, a bit shallow and simple, quite austere.
    • Taste
Huge farminess, sweet, pine oil, herb medicine, hot and intense, tyre, rubber, banana cream.
    • Finish
Medium, a bit soapy even, sweet, malty.

  3. hsmithjr scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

This is a very nice whisky.  Not flashy, but extremely enjoyable!
    • Nose
Grainy, ans a little sweet (raw sugar).  Wax.  Fresh cut dry grasses.  Eucalyptus. Zippo lighter.  Nougat.  Damp lumber.
    • Taste
Rich and full bodied.  Minty.  More on the grass.  Fresh churned butter.  Fruit gums.  Black pepper.  Brandy.
    • Finish
Medium long and peppery with fresh herbs (basil, rosemary and mint). Oak.

  4. Hubertchen scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

an old-style highland malt with no sherry and no peat smoke - but very delicious

  5. Lafroy scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Nose gives the sense of oak, light glue or
paint thinner, dryness, peppers, roasted onion, lavender, sweetness, cherry in
      chocolate and fruit drops.
    • Taste
It starts with sweetness, mead, white
pepper, paprika, herbs, hot spices, dryness, apricots, salt, malted barley and smooth
      citrus notes.
    • Finish
Rather short, with soft and pleasant on
one hand, and dry on the other hand.
