  1. whiskybommel scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

This one is lovely! Especially after having been quite disappointed by the Feis Ile 2021 Marsala finish. The younger sibling is definitely in another sphere.

The nose strikes you with this typical Bunnahabhain Moine smoke, which I like a lot. The alcohol is quite present but not too dominant. Additionally, the influence from the Bordeaux cask is quite present but not overpowering at all - we found a bunch of berries (blackberries and raspberries) paired with some light vanilla ice cream. I also found hints of dough and yeast wreath. There's also something herbal to it, as well as freshly cut branches and some grass. Lovely!

The palate is "very moine" with this superb and gentle smoke. I added some water quite quickly and was rewarded massively. The red berries are still there and reminded me of a mix of blueberries, raspberries and red gooseberries paired with some yummy salted caramel.

The finish is dominated by a herbal cigar smoke, which keeps lingering for quite a while until finally the berries find their way again. The finish is not too complex but I like it a lot!

88 points altogether for the Bunnahabhain Feis Ile 2021, 2013 Moine Bordeaux Finish. This is the quality I expect when thinking of Feis Ile and even though it's still very young and spirit forward this malt knows to convince.

Young smoke and wine barrel almost always go together for my taste. Here it has entered into a really great connection. Sweet and savory smoke turns into a buttery texture with refreshing fruit notes. Bomb!!

    It smells fruity,
    and very slightly smoky.
    A very subtle wood note.
    Fresh and light.
    Great nose!

    First very noble,
    then the steam hammer!
    Oh, it has it all.
    Not overwhelming, rather creamy.
    Yes, strong, but creamy.
This mixture of wood, spices, fruitiness,
with a hint of smoke, vanilla and spicy berries.

    Really good!

    £85.00

Since 1881, we’ve been making exceptional single malts at Bunnahabhain, during which time we’ve welcomed plenty of visitors to share the fruits of our dedication to traditional craft. That same spirit of friendship has now inspired us to create this exclusive malt for the 2021 Fèis Ìle.

Carefully matured inside our peaceful coastal distillery, its golden depths swirl with gentle notes of oily peat, rich spices and dark grapes, intertwined with just the faintest hints of cocoa and warming chilli. As well as lingering on the tongue, its delicately balanced flavour lives long in the memory – just like Islay’s famous festival.

    Tasting Notes

    Colour: Burnt Amber

Nose: Light toasted oak, red fruits leading to a sweet, dark fruit jam and a hint of dry smoke

Palate: Peat smoke, oak spice, dark grapes, cocoa and red chili, with a delicately balanced sweetness and acidity.

Finish: Long and sweet, with hints of red wine and over-ripened grapes.
