    [February, 2017]  This review is on the first batch released - I bought this bottle for 75 Euro in September 2014.

    Really nice stuff to drink...  Given its complexity and balance I think they added quite some casks much older than 21 years to this batch.  It has a very nice barley sweetness and a lovely flavour's depth mostly on fruity and flowery notes.  The finish is considerably long, mouth-coating and not drying out.  All in all a very nice dram, one I could sip several an evening without getting bored about it...

      Extremely aromatic, fragrant and flowery. Linden flowers but also linden blossom honey, fully ripe waxed tires, some ginger and in the background earthy and mineral. Later powdered sugar, oranges, some cinnamon, vanilla and light winegums.
    • Taste
      Oily onset Aromatic onset with beautiful rooty ginger, gentian ?, floral notes of chamomile, lime blossom, mint and herb rich hay and waxy and nutty notes.
    • Finish
      Long, tart oak and waxy notes and mint.

    Colour: light gold
    Nose: neat: immediately identified with american oak, vanilla, light honey/sweet, very pleasant, and I have to say it reminds me very much of Bruichladdich 16 Bourbon Cask, but I have to say I enjoy this nose more, as it adds more floral and sweet notes than the Bruichladdich. with water: same profile, does not really add much to the nose.
    Taste: neat: easy to drink despite the 46% abv. It somewhat translates the nose in it's sweet notes, and adds some spicy notes as well. Oak is present but very controlled. I have to say it is a subdued mouth, as it is pleasant but nothing really pops. with water: water really opens up the mouth on this one. Sweetness in the background, with peppery/oak notes upfront and some grassy notes as well.
    Finish: medium on floral and sweet notes. with water: more peppery notes subsiding. I actually felt water added more "mouth coating" feel to it and it felt like lasting more on the palate.
    Comments: a good malt whisky, very easy to drink, extremely hard to find in Portugal. This tasting was done with a 3cl sample from Master of Malt, as I ordered it a while ago. Was always curious about this one as this is probably the least expensive OB 21 years old.

    not getting a huge array of flavours but it does work as an overall package. There is no weak point so this is perhaps the art of the blender coming to the fore to provide a consistent nose and delivery. With some water: nose sweetens up but with the abv is pleasant but not wondrous notes; the palate is thinner but retains the sweetness longer leaving the dryness to the finish; the finish loses some taste but gains some peppery heat. One to technically admire more than love.

      some of the refill sherry along with a malty bready smell

      tangy, some boot polish, dries out into the finish
    • Finish
      medium; tasty and rich, there is some maltiness but there is also wood tannins that are not dry but rather sweet (the sherry?)

    Nose: classic bourbon barrel notes, liquorice, cooked apples, honey, vanilla. Mouth: nice drink, spicy oak, fruity. Finish: a little bitter oak, lots of fruit, some licorice, a little tart, medium long.

    I think it's delicious. However, I have to admit that I liked the sample and the first drams of my bottle better then. However, he is not a bargain at the current price.

      Flowerhoney. Malt. Lemon tea. Lemon balm. Bergamot. Dried apricots. Natural cloudy apple juice. White chocolate with orange pieces. Something floral is also in it. I'll tell marigold. Wet wood.
    • Taste
      Nice sweetness at first. Sugar candy. Marzipan. Then it gets tart and citrusy. Lime, blood orange and grapefruit. In addition, effervescent powder. Then a sharpness, which goes in the direction of ginger. Now a bitterness that reminds me of hops.
    • Finish
      Citrus notes remain. The ginger sounds slow. Too tart cider. And the oak shows up clearly.

      The nose is intense. Sweet with a bitter note, bitter almond.
      Lemon zest, a little vanilla. Some pear with pineapple. And a dry element like green tea. Oak with malt. The alcohol is very well integrated.
      The nose is pretty intense and complex.
    • Taste

      intense and pleasant start. A tingling prick on the tongue.
      Vanilla with pineapple and bergamot. Cinnamon, ginger. Then a bitterness. Like a yellow grapefruit. The oak comes then, very filigree.
      Everything is very complex and interwoven. Delicious.

      Long. Dry. The oak remains in the mouth, with a sweet vanilla mixed with pamelmuse.
      Out of the throat then comes malt with a bit bitter almond.
