    If you are a peathead and want to widen your horizon beyond Islay, this Single Malt is waiting to be discovered! At first glance, Ledaig 10 (peated Tobermory) is very reminiscent of Islay malts - but it's less sweet and distinctly different. A complex bouquet of smoked ham, sea salt, citrus fruits and both floral and savory notes hides behind intense, mineral peatiness. The arrival is strong, fresh and quite dry, followed by burned licorice, aniseed and loads of white pepper. Distant maritime notes and hints of mint crown the substantial finish. A first-class malt!

    Sea, warm, with the aroma of fish oil, smoked citrus, seaweed and cream, the taste is dry, with light bitterness, with notes of smoked mackerel with bread, honey and a creamy dessert with vanilla, medium-long finish, slightly dries, with nuances of iodine, smoked fish and dusty rags.
    I was pleasantly surprised, the aroma is generally direct to me, a creamy-malt sweet with hints of peat and sea. Dry straight perfect in moderation. For a decade, but for such a price - this is a bomb.

    Great drops for the price!
    • Nose
      Citrus fruits, campfire, a hint of caramel, a quick thought of engine oil, malt, lemon cake
    • Taste
      Slightly sweet caramel, of course, smoke, but harmoniously integrated, a little vanilla, a little orange, some salt,

    High-quality peat.
    First of all, look at the appearance of the bottle, it is really very textured,
    Personally, I like the darkly treated wooden bottle cap with the map of Mull engraved on it. I have seen so many corks, this one has the best texture.
    There is also an image of the distillery on the bottleneck, showing the quality of a boutique as a whole.
    It's rare that the packaging design of whisky can be so beautiful.
    And the 46.3% alcohol content is very exciting.

    The overall drinking experience is very good.
    In the past, the impression of the peated malts produced in the non-Ilay island area seems to be different from that in the Islay island area (such as Talisker, Highland park, Ardmore, benromach, etc., have their own main features)
    Maybe you want to avoid duplication of features with the impression of Islay, right?
    But this wine is the same as Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Ardbeg and other distillers, completely taking the route of marine peat as the protagonist.
    But in the balance between flowers, fruits and peat, it walks out of its own way (slightly lowers the peat to make the fragrance of flowers and fruits stand out)
    It is very memorable.
    The point is his ultra-friendly price. Although it has been revised this year, the price has not changed!
    It is a boon for lovers, recommended!

      Personally think this part is the strength of this malts.
      The first is the fragrance of flowers and orange fruits,
      Then came the sweetness of honey, and immediately followed by the impact of peat,
      But it blends well with the previous flowers, fruits and honey. Peat is the protagonist but it does not completely take away the role. Instead, the performance is harmonious. It feels a bit like Laphroaig quarter cask, but the peat and woody notes are reduced, and the flowers are strengthened. Fruit and sweetness.

      The nose has a very maritime and fishy profile with notes of oily grilled fish, seaweeds, smoked citrus fruits and cream.

      The taste starts off peaty and gets even stronger with a fishy pepperiness, hints of seaweeds and a slight vanilla taste.

      The finish is medium lenght and fades away gently with a nice maritume notes followed by fish oil and vanilla.

    First of all, I am not an (Islay) peat lover. I tried several bottles, but I simply do not like it. Spingbank is about the max I can take. But Ledaig is a different thing. A great winter whisky. For sure a BFYB.

      This is a dirty smell. I love it. Earthy; salty but sweet.

      Dominant stinging smoke on the tongue; sweetness as well. Great!

    I knew the maritime peat, the medicinal peat, here is the filthy peat! It's fatty, barely iodized, but mostly ash and dust, it's deep, tar scrapes nostrils well. Tire, soot, plastic, sludge, charcoal, anything that stains. A hint of lemon all the same, and apricot. Behind, exotic fruits, mango, passion fruit. Smoke.
    On the palate, very oily peat, light lemon, vague hints of caramel, liquid honey, coarse salt, more dust. It's perfectly balanced, the finish is pleasant, the lemon increases in power, it is almost candied, then it's pepper, but not strong, very long in the mouth, good retro-olfaction. It's heavy.

    Very fine malt! The Ledaig was a catastrophe for a while - in the 90s there was really bad Plörre on the way. And now ... very fine thing. A fine combination of sweetness that hits the Ledaig smoke. In addition also a Leadiag gum note, which is typical for this malt. If you fill this high quality distillate in Sherry Casks then things like the signature bottlings from 2004 and 2005 come out. Great!
    Also this Basic version is very well spent money. Recommended!

    Pretty straightforward mildly peated dram, nothing fancy but an OK dram.Tasted in a tasting with line-up of WB ID's 52097, 62558, 69539, 18211, 66055, in that order. 
    • Nose
      Rubbery (the rubber bands the mailman uses - Dutch: postelastiek), peaty, oily (fish oil), pinch of salt. Fresh; pretty straightforward. 
    • Taste
      Quite peaty, a bit oily, citrusy; lemon marmalade. 
    • Finish
      Lemon and apricot marmalade continuing with peatiness, sweeter than on the palate. At the roof of the mouth: smoke of an open fire.
