Beeswax candles, honey. Very well integrated alcohol, very soft and round, almost creamy if you can say that for a smell. Also something spicy and tart, heather and spicy oak, plus a little malt? Vanilla and a fruit salad. Light fruit acid, citrus fruits. A hint of mint? Then again sweet honey, but rather the very light not the dark forest honey. Some grain?
Very similar to the nose, strong taste and well integrated alcohol. This is how it should be after 22 years. This refill butt probably had nothing to do with sherry. I need a bigger dram to then tease out even more, at the moment the taste is exactly the same as the nose described above. Silky, creamy, sticky. Liquid honey.
Warming in the throat (or is that due to the rather early hour I try here ?!) Nice oak flavor, not bitter for my taste. A great spicy-tart layer stays on the tongue. Otherwise similar to the nose, and maybe there will actually be a small pinch of wood-campfire smoke at the end, as was also mentioned in the description at WoW?
I need a bigger dram and more time, but this dram is clearly a winner. Great old Highlander with complex flavors that I will love to explore.
N-92, T-91, F-91 for a relatively smooth 91 points at the moment, but there's more to come!
