This is a quiet and complex whisky, it requires time and attention to get the most out of it. The nose is immediately complex on wood spices, fruitiness and a soft smokiness that is just wonderful. Mind you, there is no peat whatsoever.
The palate is quite oily and adds citrus and vanilla. The smokiness is still there and a medicinal touch as well. All of these elements as well as the alcohol are perfectly integrated, nothing is dominant. Despite the age there is no woodiness, just blissful harmony. This is a fantastic whisky in a style that is very hard to find these days. Highly recommended.
