I really like it, something different, the fruits are not overly strong in the mouth, but you can find different if you take your time.
    • Nose
Dirty red apple, exciting, thyme, sour, pineapple, marzipan and lime, some vanilla and basil, herbal honey, banana, an interesting mixture that makes you want more
    • Taste
Pear, apple, very pleasant, the beautiful herbal honey again, pecans, some fine pepper, almonds, mango, toffee and some orange, grapefruit, spicy oak, some bitter malt to the rear
    • Finish
Long, orange peel, caramel, some pepper, getting drier

    • Nose
Mango, lime, touch of pepper and vanilla
    • Taste
      Honey, mango and spicy spices
    • Finish
Long, warming, pepper and sweet fruit

  6. KayMeertens scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Marzipan, orange, caramel, malt, vanilla, pine needles, basil and a little glue.
    • Taste
Bitter almond, orange, caramel, pecan nut, sweet & sour sauce and some pepper. Based on my experience with Tamdhu I expected a drop of water to unleash the cream, but instead it releases an Edradour-like puke note.
    • Finish
Brazil nut, orange, caramel and pepper.

Whisky Doris Tamdhu 25 years (1984 to 2010) Distilled: 1984/10/12 Bottled: 2010/7/2 Cask No: 2834 It is a Sample bottle that comes with various purchases. Immediately after pouring it feels spicy and scallion fragrant and alcoholic feeling strong. However, with the passage of time a sweet scent of wheat and fragrance like a flower began to appear, and when it calmed down, a green apple faced her face. When you put it in your mouth, it is quite rich and sweet like a solid honey spreads out, but the green apple gradually comes out and the mouth refreshes. The lingering finish is dry, but the fragrance and sweetness of the green apple remain fluffy. Although it may be cheaply transmitted in this way, there was a feeling like fanta apple (laugh) ※ It is the first time to write tasting comments tightly, is this even OK? It is all exciting because everyone is an amazing person. http://www.whiskylink.com/?p=1154

    Tamdhu 25 yo 1984 (50,1%, Whisky-Doris 2010, refill hogshead #2834, 270 btl.)

Nose: starts malty and very rubbery, with cereal grains and porridge. I can’t really appreciate this rubbery side, but it’s something I’ve come to expect from Tamdhu so it’s not a specific problem of this expression. After a few moments, it develops on fruit compote (apples, oranges) and big herbal notes (mint / verbena tea, ginger, a little nutmeg). Hints of pine resin and wax with a soapy edge. Mouth: in line with the nose: a fruity / malty centre with oranges, many pears, nutmeg and ginger. Pine wood and liquorice root. Quite herbal towards the finish. Finish: orange marmalade, a little dark chocolate and slightly bitter cloves.

I should probably add that I’ve rarely been impressed by a Tamdhu so far – it doesn’t seem to be my style. This 25 year-old is very expressive though, with a big emphasis on herbal notes and spices. Available from Whisky-Doris (Germany) for € 95.

Very good Tamdhu, which could be even better, if the nose would not be a little unpleasant.
    • Nose
First comes a short and decent whiff of caramel, then strange notes of car tires and the strong flavor of dried herbs. changes a lot between chinese chop suey sauce, cigarette tobacco, juniper, liquorice and honey. Very unusual indeed, indefinite and not really pleasant I am afraid.
    • Taste
Bold, repeating the notes of chinese chop suey sauce, tobacco and liquorice from the nose. Some oranges as well but this kind of strawy old oranges that do not taste well. Plenty of concentrated cold black tea and black pepper. There definitely is some peat as well, which adds a pleasant element to the whole. Excelent and much better than the nose suggested.
    • Finish
Medium long focussing on concentrated black tea and spices (chili, pepper) with hints of peat.
