  1. LDB scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Nice dram, like a mature exBC Springbank without peat, but enriched in taste with lemon curd. In any case, nothing for those with a sweet tooth, this malt wants to be slightly sour and does so after a while in the glass.

Pineapple, pear, ginger, everything lightly caramelized and with a pleasant Ricola herb note, and finally a little mildly fermented plants. Definitely not your typical hogshead nose.
    • Taste
      88 88
The ginger is now candied, mixes with a pronounced oiliness, which also brings bitter oranges with honey and sugared grapefruit with it. The spicier spiciness of the ginger comes through, luckily remains in balance with the oily, delicate, fruity notes (especially if a few drops of water are involved).
    • Finish
      88 88
The finish pulls over the tongue for a long time, lining the palate with a full oily finish. Since it is often the case with many hogsheads, it has to be mentioned here: you can feel the wood clearly (23 years ...!), BUT it does not become excessively bitter in the aftertaste.

Unfortunately, you don't notice much of the age, plus decent sharpness. Typical ex-bourbon notes are there, but the sharp elements, pungency and bitterness in the finish make it feel rather unbalanced for its age. I wouldn't have expected that from the data, too bad.

Absolutely not my taste, a lot of sharpness and bitter, otherwise I find almost nothing. A three-digit price is not worth it. There is better scotch for less than 50€
