...which is a fine modern sherry maturation with all three malt, wine and wood in great harmony. This is pretty quaffable stuff, but to be honest: I would not spend more than 150 Euro on a bottle of this drinking quality (go for Glenrothes sherry maturations, they offer a comparable profile for less bucks).

The colour is russetmuscat and the nose offers a subtle and delicious modern sherry profile which is in good balance with both the malt and the wood. It opens up nicely upon breathing so take your time with this nose, and do not forget to go for the "unpeated Caol Ila" aromas in this setting - they are pretty easy to identify. I like this nose.

The taste is more dominated by the sweet winey flavours than the nose but still this dram manages to keep the balance, not least because the sherry is rather subtle and complex (just the way I like it). After some chewing the malt gets stronger on my palate while the wood is present all the time without being too dominant. No flaw that I can detect.

The initial mouthfeel is a little hot and peppery with a nice coating effect. The finish is medium to long and adds no new impressions but a minor drying-astringent moment towards the end which is not distracting. Some water turns the dram more punchy (alcoholic) while a bigger splash turns it unpleasantly bitter. I prefer the neat dram.
