  1. wisekycourse scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A day of peat-free distillation to bring out a nugget!
    nose:
    olfactory delight!
yellow and orange fruits, dried fruits, raisins, plums, sugar juice, buttered caramel,
chocolate now, a little spicy, the cooked fruits and the syrup that goes with it, a "young" but intense sherry with soaked woody in return
    mouth:
it continues, it amplifies with fruit in syrup, cooked and slightly caramelized, candied fruit also on orange zest, on dried prunes
trace of moistened mold, lichen on the wood,
very sweet on caramel and chocolate, some sweet almond, moistened stone and honey
As much as I had found a trace of smoke for the unpeated 18th, as there without knowing the name of the distillery I left on a fruity Speyside
    final:
caramelized, buttery, smooth, a little bitterness at this point, fruit in syrup well cooked (a basket!), long and amplified by spices; (27)

Very good intense and dirty Caol.
    • Nose
      90 90
      A powerful but deep nose.
We smell the sherry, rather on the dirty side. Leather, currant, pepper, goji berry, plum and prune, light caramel chocolate, rancio.
Almost a light rum side too.
The woody frame is well balanced.
Even though it's unpeated, I feel like I smell a very light smoke.
    • Taste
      88 88
In the mouth it is surprisingly round and sweet.
The plum is more lively, with some orange peel.
      Pepper, wood, caramel, cocoa.
Always that impression of smoke, and a very light liquid for lighter.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long finish on tarte tatin, caramel, pepper, wood, and macerated fruits (marascino cherry?)

  3. vlad78 scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Exceptional, very tasty! Heavy, like the burgundy velvet curtains that fall in the theater, or in the opera, sherry tones.
    • Nose
      92 92
Burying my nose in the glass and closing my eyes, I felt like I was inside this cask. Like Diogenes. Plums, raisins, figs, dried persimmons and dates, dried petals of tea, dark cloves, which I stepped on in the dark. Fresh grape leaves.
    • Taste
      92 92
The taste is bright, sweet, and at the same time quite dry, which binds the tongue. Dense, thick, silky, it seems to be created for you to become better.
    • Finish
      91 91
Sweet, but moderately tart, rounded, long.
