Glen Scotia Double Cask, 46% alc aging: American oak, matured in PX sherry barrels
Nose: fruity, raspberries, some strawberry jam, spices and moist earth. This is followed by gunpowder and a slight acid.
Palate: cereal notes, especially oats, plus the sweetness of grapes, prunes and, quite a bit, liquorice. A light smoky note joins it very harmoniously.
Finish: entertaining, sweet, slightly spicy with an elegant hint of oak.
Conclusion: A good introduction to the world of Glen Scotia - even if no age information. 81/100 - www.notesofmalt.com
