  1. Official tasting note

    official description:

Fairy Cask 2 Port Cask Finish, Blended Whiskey, 54.5% Vol.

Fairy Casks - Irish Single Cask Whiskey is the second bottling series from Irish-Whiskeys.de after the Black Rock series. In alliance with the mystical power of the Irish fairies, true magical whiskeys with special barrel maturations and finishes are created here. To do this, Mareike Spitzer first selected the right barrels personally on site in Ireland. With an experienced eye for first-class barrels and a flair for great whiskeys, she created the high-quality basis for the first fairy casks. The rest of the work was done by the magic of the Irish fairies.

The second bottling is the Fairy Cask Blended Whiskey with a Port Cask finish. The 12-year-old single grain was initially stored in a first fill bourbon barrel for 10 years and the 14-year-old single malt was also stored in a first fill bourbon barrel for 12 years. After these whiskeys were blended together, the whiskey received a two-year finish in a Ruby Port barrel. The Fairy Cask Blended Irish Whiskey was bottled at 54.5%. This bottling received no color additions and was not cold filtered. Each bottle is individually numbered.

There is a hint of grain, I have strawberry jam. The wonderfully selected barrel and its flavor remain present for a long time. Adding a little water is pleasant without stealing anything from it

Blended whiskey or not, that's a
decent, round and also versatile Irish whiskey that needs some time to develop. Not overly demanding but perfectly consistent from start to finish.
    • Nose
      86 86
The first impression on the nose is a slightly refreshing, slightly woody, spicy whiskey. A few fruits like strawberries, dark grapes together with slightly tart currants.
There is also a subtle citrus / lemon note. With a little time in the glass, chocolate and vanilla develop. In the background there are slight hints of nuts.
More like a hazelnut schnapps with nut nougat. Varied and rounded impression.
    • Taste
      86 86
Slightly hot, spicy beginning. But then somehow soft and creamy. Great seasoning. The fruits come through well again. Then a honey sweetness with vanilla biscuits appears. Milk chocolate, nuts and subtly bitter wood aromas follow. Alcohol works well integrated.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium-long finish, some fruit with a slight sweetness merge into a bitter dark chocolate note and oak spice.

Delicious. If I didn't know it was a blended whiskey, I wouldn't have guessed it. A very round and pleasing, but not boring bottling.
    • Nose
Dark berries, honey sweetness and milk chocolate. Mainly warm tones. Some nut nougat with a lot of hazelnut. Cherries and plums, also vanilla.
    • Taste
It runs soft and warm over the tongue. A dark sweetness with vanilla are the first aromas to show up. Then come prunes, some dark chocolate and dark caramel tones. The alcohol brings a nice, fine sharpness, but is very well integrated.
    • Finish
It takes a long time for the aromas to dissipate. The dark caramel notes and toasted aromas stay the longest.

    Vanilla, spicy, chocolate, lederhosen, great

Sweetish, honey, chocolate, nice flavor, a little bit alcohol

    Almost long, sweet, slightly spicy
