    Candy Chain
Ooh, the boys and girls of the Belgian whisky club BYOB-C, ‘biopsy’ for short, have released another Mobsters on Mopeds, this time with a Flandria motobike on the label. It’s their 9th release already and immediately also their second grain after that summery Cambus 1987 from two years ago. This time around they chose a 38 years old Cameronbridge!
Very sweet nose on vanilla, banana, white chocolate, candy chain and cherry juice. Hint of lime peel and meringue. Very pleasant.
Good body. Nicely soft and mouth coating. Immediately typically grain with lots of pepper, cloves, liquorice and vanilla, while the fruit evolves towards banana, peach and cherries. Pencil shavings and graphite. Crème brûlée. Marshmallow. Creamy from the second sip forward. This is so good.
Long finish on banana and vanilla, with a feisty note of pepper at the death.
Great choice from our friends at BYOB-C.

A delicious grain whisky with a wonderful nose! Tasty stuff.

Vanilla, creamy, peach (a bit like peche melba), mango, melon, wallpaper glue (in a good way) and caramelized pineapple.
    • Taste
      87 87
Vanilla custard, caramel, coconut butter, ripe galia melon, peaches and some spices.
    • Finish
      86 86
a bit cardboard glue dry (but that's not a bad thing for an old grain IMO)... some toffee, again that melon and a slight spice note. A medium/long finish

Starts with vernis-ish tones, I find this with most grain whiskies and kinda like it. In this case its probably over-emphasysed by the blenders glass. A half hour later it had developed in Vanilla with a funny metallic tone, blood oranges, balsamico and laurier. Awesome.

Sweet, herbal slowly changing citrusy with the alcohol nicely integrated. It fine to me without adding water.
    • Finish
      87 87
There's one point less as the finish is medium short, but warming.
Blood oranges are back and fade away slowly.
