Initially fruity, but over time the floral character becomes more and more concise and the light barrel char also becomes stronger.
The taste is then typical ex-bourbon style with light fruits, the barrel char character is clearly noticeable.
Is getting drier and the tongue stays covered for a long time.
Not bad, but not the over-the-top even now.
Anyone who likes pure ex-Bourbon whiskys and can cope with light smoke can definitely grab it here; I find the price at around 65 but quite heavy.
The smoke and the floral from the nose give a nice complexity, which is then more limited in taste to the smoke. The heather smoke reminds me a lot of Highland Park.
[86 - 82 = good whisky -> get a second bottle? Maybe...]; in this case the sample is enough for me.
maybe get a sample / bottle sharing first, otherwise the disappointment could be too big!

      light fruits (fresh pears, unripe apricots, green apples) together with a citrus fruit, also has something of a lychee;
with a floral touch - with heather becoming more and more dominant in the nose, light smoke from the barrel char, which becomes stronger over time.
Slight sweetness (powdered sugar), a little honey, caramel (but very far in the background).
Grassy, wet hay and fresh wood.
    • Taste
      82 82
quite soft on the tongue, light spice is added. The light fruits come through better in taste than in the nose.
If it becomes drier, barrel char is available again, the smoke still sticks to the tongue, even with a light spice.
Second sip: fruity, spicy, but still restrained for the 48%, slight ginger spiciness on the tongue.
    • Finish
      80 80
the tongue remains covered with spicy tannins, the influence of smoke is there, but then becomes weaker and weaker; medium to long finish.

Seems to me that Benromach deserves more than pure bourbon maturation. Besides the sensation classics of bourbon maturation like vanilla, and oak (Eichewürze), you get subtle orange peels, did not find any coconut.
I found the subtle Benromach smoke there as well.
Finish in my opinion is medium long, and unfortunately about alcohol in the second half.
I would like to read other opinions, please challenge me.
