I made this tasting note in 2008 when I didn''t know Ardbeg would employ Louis Vuilton for their branding...talking about being pompous. Still in my top three distillery list dispite the handbag fettish.
Sweet peat, liquorice, sharp. Add some water to unlock the total breadth of the aroma.
Firm, beautifully balanced between the peat, earthy tones, fresh citrus and tabacco. Complex taste without coming across as pompous
Long, smoky with hints of espresso coffee. This malt is made for long cold winter evenings in front of the fire place. One of the best malts you can get in this price range.
