This whisky was not mine, though I'm sure it will have its lovers.
    • Nose
A lot of malt coupled with the sweetness of toffee, a bit of apple and lots of wood again. And there's something else that reminds me of meat.
    • Taste
The fleshiness is also reflected in the taste, also the malt, toffee and the bitterness of the oak. The fruity notes of sherry cask are there, but rather in the background.
    • Finish
Long finish, sweetness disappears slowly and the bitterness of the oak comes out.

In the nose I smell salmiak, maggi. Weakens later to more fruity. The taste is slightly bitter and spicy. Lingers for a long time.

Nose:- Warm, honey sweet with whiff of musky underneath. Fresh oak, vanilla and persistent aroma of nutmeg. Spices. Palate:- Full body, sweet freshness of nutmeg with sprinkles of
cinnamon spices. Not overpowering, quite well structure. A touch of
    everything.

Finish:- Full and creamy entry, Thick wave of
warmth pepper and ginger rises from end of throat. Surely a dram for
    cold day. Medium long.

Medium-bodied and quite creamy in the mouth. The nose is a bit more restrained than the taste and the finish, but is still very nice indeed. Would most probably have benefited from a higher ABV and longer maturation according to my taste, but all in all I find it a great dram and a lot of bang for the buck price-wise. Now I'm looking forward to open the 21 YO version!
    • Nose
Old wooden boards, sherry, leather, 'nectary' honey, restrained nuttiness, a tad of cinnamon and other spices, some faint tropical notes, old-fashioned candy shop, traces of very refined unburnt peat, rounded - but at the same time slightly heavy and sweet malt, some typical Mortach meatiness that I find very difficult to describe. And a faint presence of clean peat smoke.
    • Taste
The trademark meatiness is there from the start, more nuttiness, an almost burnt and and heavy 'syrupy' sense of malt, old leather, cream, honeyed sherry in the background, some zesty tropical notes coming out now and then, a little bit of smoke and old mellow oak with only soft tannins making themselves known.
    • Finish
Medium length - the finish follows the taste/palate closely, but here the refined and soft smoke really comes more forward, unburnt peat, a little bit of smoked liquorice, some nutty sherry at the very end and a hint of toffee/caramel.
