The glass bottle is nice and would make an attractive vase - save time by tipping the contents out. I'd rather drink water.
    • Nose
      80 80
Somewhere between a field of rye grass and a slightly funky farmyard.
    • Taste
      78 78
Like sucking grass through a slightly manky marshmallow.
    • Finish
      78 78
      Flat - lingers (unfortunately).

Grattansbrook farm is located approximately 50 miles from the distillery.

N: A coppery savoury-sweet light oily all-grain [Jura/Balvenie/Balblair-esque] style of whiskey with additional notes around nutty plastic-y banoffee-like banana [aka isoamyl acetate, also known as isopentyl acetate: an organic compound that is the ester formed from isoamyl alcohol and acetic acid and described as similar to both banana and pear].

T: Same again on this light savoury-sweet barley juice style accompanied by new wood which eases its way in slowly.

F: A delicious savoury creamy finish of finesse. You can tell the brewing process [and the barley itself] is at the heart of Waterford.

C: Aged 3.5-4 years old, I’m in admiration of this exacting naked style – not dissimilar to SMWS’s Chita G1.1 [WB] in that regard and on the quality-front also. Grattansbrook will remain a firm favourite throughout the flight.

    • Nose
Rather malty with freshly baked bread. Barley sugar. Green grapes and apples. A hint of honey and some vanilla in the background. This is followed by fresh lemon juice.
    • Taste
Creamy mouthfeel. Creme brulee. Then bread again and oatmeal porridge. Tea biscuits too. This is followed by fresh pears, but also golden kiwis. A Lemon pie. Later also grapefruit and mandarins. And then some spices, such as a touch of pink peppercorns and cinnamon.
    • Finish
Mid-long, with the same spices and a hint of oak. Mandarins too.
