The sherry notes are fantastically beautiful, and in my opinion it needs a lot of water! Unfortunately, this is my criticism. I need to be in the mood to find the right balance with water. And it's really high, three and a half teaspoons to a dram... I've only had that at Booker's before. The nose and the finish pull him out, they're really good.

Initially a bit sharp on the nose, nice sherry aromas, chocolate and raisins as well as Jaffa biscuits.
    • Taste
      87 87
Purely I have no chance with the 63.9%. Two teaspoons of water and it's still too strong for me. At three and a half teaspoons it's okay with me and opens up. Nice warm sherry aromas, but still strong on entry. I find oak, biscuit and orange and then it gets really oily.
    • Finish
      89 89
It remains oily, the sherry notes are great, plus there is biscuit, oak and tobacco again. The mouthfeel is ethereal and warm. Overall a very long finish.

I like Deanston a lot, had the 12 and 10 Bordeaux, which I really liked. That's why I wanted to invest a bit more and bought this bottling for >100 EUR because of the great WB ratings. Unfortunately I don't like it, something is strange, I have a soapy raspberry dishwashing liquid note that just doesn't suit me and feels uncomfortable. Too bad.

Maple syrup on pancakes, furniture polish, hot on nose, not hot on palate and actually quite drinkable/smashable. With time, gets depth, deep, sweet flavour.

  7. MrDvorak scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

In the aroma, sweet popcorn with salted caramel and chocolate, chili and paprika. The taste is bright, biting with nuances of caramel and chocolate with almond crumbs. The finish is very powerful, long, prickly, sherry-spicy.

Young, powerful and rather prickly Dinston, a very strong influence of barrels and a tangible strength, the degree is felt more than it is.

    RATING: 86pts - | 83 - 86 (B) → Good | - Not a “must”, but a nice-to-have.

It is difficult to drink without adding water. It is very strong and it is simply impossible to make out something. Diluted to ~ 50%.
The nose is fresh, of course sherry, but not sweet, a little herbal ... no, rather a simple bitter. 21
The taste is semi-sweet, very prickly, peppery. Nutty notes, closer to almond notes. twenty
The aftertaste is tart, even after diluting with water, excessive alcoholism is still present. twenty
A bit sad from such releases.

without water strong sherry molt) with a few drops of water - fresh fruit, creamy dessert, tannins, leather, tobacco, bitter shkolad are added to the taste, as well as notes of pepper in the aftertaste. Let it be 22-22-22-22

Lovely deanston, hit the right barrel. Recently, very tasty samples of this distillery have often come across, it seems that it is underestimated. Balance 22.5, total 89-90

High strength is absolutely not a hindrance to taste recognition. The aroma is a standard sherry barrel with an unusual note of freshness. Delicate fruit with creamy notes and a bit of perfumery. Quite refined and intelligent. 22.5

Sweet but not luscious. As refined as in the scent. Hard candy, candied berries, mint, cinnamon, a little salt. 23
    • Finish
      89 89
Long finish. Astringency, spicy, salty-sweet. 22

Bought for about 100 EUR in April 2021.

Not impressed by this whisky. Just some modern sherried whisky, could be from (almost) any non-peated distillery, nothing stands out.

After two weeks it did not improve. Will try after a couple of months and update the review if there is any significant change.

Just to be clear, it's not bad, but I can find much more satisfaction in many other whiskies in this price range (and even much cheaper actually).

I am really wondering what kind of Sherry this cask was, as this flavour profile is quite unusual and VERY nice!! I must admit, that i really enjoy unusual or sometimes strange Whiskies, so there will be probably people, who will not share my enthusiastics for this one.
Needed to be a white wine Sherry, as the colour is quite bright. The nose and palate is full of sweetness and fruit. The palate evolves quite complex thru time and had also some quite dry and even bitter notes, that remind me of Campari.
It goes extremely well with water, where it opens a lot more flavours, that are hidden behind the high alcohol.

SMELL sweet caramel popcorn, forest honey, rum raisins. Then nice and fruity strawberries with maple syrup, rice pudding with cinnamon sugar and oak. TASTE very sweet and spicy with ginger and chilli. Hot brownie with caramel cherries and vanilla ice cream with candied orange peel.
The finish is sweet and spicy with oak and cappuccino.
