From: Catholic Parish Budenheim
150 years ago, the citizens of Budenheim donated the large chapel in the forest in honor of St. Wendelinus.
Every year in October our parish goes out to his chapel to celebrate an outdoor service together. One can say that the Irish saint is firmly rooted in our Budenheim way of life and popular piety.
The pious monk from Ireland has become one of us - and we now want to celebrate this successful integration in a very special way, honor his memory with our own whiskey.
Very close to us, albeit on the other side of the Rhine, we found a traditional family distillery and a wonderful master distiller who will put together a whiskey for us based on an old Irish recipe from local grain.
Four different types of whiskey made from barley, oats, rye and a single malt combine in a unique and exclusive way to create our Wendelinus whiskey.
This blend is refined by storing it for one year in a Dornfelder barrique barrel from a winegrower in Rhineland-Hesse.
Your contribution serves to mature our own Budenheimer whiskey and at the same time to preserve the church buildings of our parish.
Become one of a maximum of three barrel sponsors and donate your donation to the barrique barrel that will give the Wendelinus whiskey its unique taste. We invite our barrel sponsors to visit the distillery together and thank the public with a plaque on the barrel. Join our whiskey sponsors and support the purchase of 80 liters of the best whesskey from the Höhler distillery with your donation own Irish-style blend can mature for a year. Support yourself as a bottle sponsor by purchasing your very own bottle
“Budenheimer Wendelinus Whiskey” the annual
Finishing process. "Limited Edition" - desired numbers if available! Delight friends from near and far with this idea of honoring our Irish saint with a fine drop.
Cheers!
On October 23, 2016, at the intercession of St. Wendelinus, we will ask for the blessing for the barrique barrel and fill it a few days later with the blend whiskey, which is then allowed to mature in peace.
Be there when the fine wine is tasted for the first time in the Wendelinus Chapel in October 2017, on the commemoration day of St. Wendelinus.
In November 2017, on the occasion of the consecration day of the Holy Trinity Church, the Wendelinus Whiskey will be bottled and offered for sale in a festive setting.
The "Budenheimer Wendelinus Whiskey" is a charity project of the parish of St. Pankratius to preserve the church buildings.
