notesofmalt scored this whisky 81 points

Sulmgau single malt whisky, 4 years, 47% alc. Original bottling. Expansion: acacia barrel, maturing in a chestnut barrel
Nose: Slightly misted sweetness, beeswax, unripe banana, tree resin. Grasses, moist forest floor, very fresh and clear. Some rock candy. In addition, a very light smoke, malt.
Palate: Very sweet and slightly spicy, almost an artificial sweetness. Flavored cotton candy, coffee liqueur. Increasing bitterness, espresso, cocoa beans.
Finish: Short to medium-long, dry and slightly sweet, the bitterness barely there.
Conclusion: have I ever had an acacia barrel? This artificial sweetness, tree resin - a bit peculiar but exciting. Anyone interested in whisky from Germany cannot avoid this bottling. 81/100 points (2021). I thank the manufacturer for the sample.
