Whisky Reviews for Ledaig 1973 GM

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.27 points

  1. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Old Ledaig. One of my favorite kinds of whisky.
    • Nose
      91 91
Very old metal, industrial feel. Tons of dried herbs mixed with old peat. Some bitterness from ginseng. Quite a full and balanced nose, never out of whack, with some soft, gentle fruits at the end.
    • Taste
      90 90
Very soft. Again, tons of herbs. Black tea. Fresh and very approachable. The peat is almost an afterthought. A pleasant bitterness, at times, too bitter I think, but it's not the type of bitterness that make you squeamish. I can drink a ton of this.
    • Finish
      88 88
Very short, ends abruptly. I hate that it's 40%, which is common in these old CC's. Wish the new cask strength CC series that G&M put out the past couple years were available back then. Would have been some legendary drams. Alas, this is still a good experience.

  2. MaltMartin scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

According to Serge Valentin this should be a botteling from the early 1990's. A classical and superb Connoisseurs Choice old map label expression. What had happened with the Connoisseurs Choice range since the late 1990's?
    • Nose
Delicate smoke. Leather and shoe polish. Oranges and tangerines as well.
    • Taste
If you keep in mind that this is 40% ABV, the palate is very intense and waxy. Peat. Also juicy barley and some berry fruit notes. Cinnamon.
    • Finish
Long, peppeyr. Becomes more salty in the end.

  3. Feusi scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

An "old" very nice filling, Ledaig how you want it. Deep, heavy with a nice hint of the Isle of Mull.
