    A pleasant young drink.

An impressive young Penderyn. Very intense and sweet, but much too heavy for me on its own. It's a shame that it doesn't tolerate water well, otherwise it would be a great thing.

Fresh and sweet. Menthol, slightly musty (mushrooms), almonds, slightly fruity (like chewing gum) on top of blueberries and plums. You notice the youth.

With 1 teaspoon of water: With water, a little sulfur comes through (gunpowder), the artificial notes become stronger, that means the nose is more beautiful on its own.
    • Taste
      82 82
Thicker and oily than expected, almost syrupy. Great chewable, but the alcohol is not without it. Very sweet, espresso, red fruits from the freezer, slightly bitter, but little oak.

With water: Unfortunately, he doesn't tolerate water well, the whole thing is more tangy than mild.
    • Finish
      79 79
      Medium long, tingling, slightly bitter.

For me personally, like many Penderyns, it is too intense and hot. Very sweet, artificially flowery, I am missing the round harmony.

This whisky is difficult to gauge and that makes it very interesting for the enthusiast. It's something different. In any case, you have to sit down properly.

Sherry, but not the typical oloroso nose. Hay, sweet, chocolate, plums, raisins, light sulfur. Where are the fruity elements?
    • Taste
      89 89
What is this? Sweet, sherry, but no oloroso, nuts, raisins, plums, ginger, spicy dry. The alcohol is very present. He's not an easy guy, but very interesting.
    • Finish
      87 87
The finish is medium to long, sherry, spicy, ginger.

Too sweet for me, really heavy molasses and maple syrup.

Quite waxy, hay, dusty hay, some toffee, sharper acetone, very light sulphur, dried apricots and dates, quite a good dose of honey, cocktail berries, perfumed and a bit chemical, a bit of molasses.
    • Taste
      78 78
Surprisingly soft and light considering the ABV, very light burn, but it feels soft and wolly, and then it's really, really sweet. Molasses, muscovado sugar, very sweet cooked carrots, light toffee, chestnuts, woolly bitterness, some oak, but also the odd note of lanolin. Sweet and bitter. Second chew has a mouthfeel that's less woolly and drier, but it's even sweeter, like they added molasses to the mix. A bit of ginger and light smoke, but too heavy on the sweet to balance. A bit of sponge cake and shortbread cookies, I wanted to say waffless, but really only the maple syrup. Third chew is a bit more spicy, more ginger, some chili, but not much else.
    • Finish
      77 77
Heavy maple syrup, ginger, chili, very light smoke. Bitterness is gone, but comes back when sweetness has died down.
