  2. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A very pleasant, thick and rich whisky with a decent palette of derivatives, an interesting composition, well balanced, drinkable, velvety, very sweet.
    • Nose
Open, damp, light woody tones - cigar box, tropical wood, old furniture; dried grapes, milk chocolate, raisins, dried apricots, some mineral notes, homemade apple and pear marshmallows; almonds, fallen leaves, herbarium, raw tin, herbal motifs.
    • Taste
      Dense, rich, sweet-woody with hints of chocolate, leather goods and burnt crackers; burnt jam, sweet creamy shades - boiled condensed milk, baked milk; some burnt branches, kvass wort, burnt caramel, hints of imperial stout;
    • Finish
Soft, rather warming, oak, creamy sweetness, burnt branches, stout, burnt jam, leather goods, cocoa, chocolate, dried fruits.

  3. DistiLesha scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Unusual, but clearly sherry whisky with a bright rum component in the taste, which reminded me of Jamaica and Hampden.
This is the whisky I would blindly slip someone along with a similar sherry brandy and DepaZ-type rum.
The barrel is clearly chic, as evidenced by the persistent and balanced, delicious aftertaste!

    • Nose
Dense, juicy, viscous, dried fruits, spices, concentrated dried fruit compote, creamy caramel, leather, wood phenols, prunes, a little perfume, coriander, cinnamon, malt.
    • Taste
Thick, corpulent, thick. At the same time, burning and young for such a color (dark gold with a brown tint). Powerfully anesthetic with rum esters (bristle, lacquer, pineapple, molasses) and peppermint, shortbread, at the same time dries the mouth and binds the tongue and cheeks with sherry cask tannins.
      Sweetness 8 out of 10.
      Saturation 10 out of 10
    • Finish
Dry, dense, dried fruits, a mountain of woody tannins, cherry pit.
      Very durable and long lasting!

    Tasty and sweet.
He does not need water or only little.
With water, the Oloroso Sherry comes through more or dominates and especially in the finish the sweetness gives way to a stronger dryness.
    • Nose
      91 91
      Candy apples and cinnamon dominate.
There is also some cherry, very little milk chocolate, light wood notes and some honey.
Overall tasty and sweet, makes you want more.
    • Taste
      89 89
Very sweet, reminiscent of Haribo cherries and bright red and ripe apples. Effervescent powder and a little chocolate.
    • Finish
      88 88
The sweetness remains, but the apples turn into green apples. Minimally dry.

    A pleasant young drink.
    • Nose
Prunes, raisins, dark chocolate, but I did not catch the usual dryness for Oloroso.
    • Taste
      Sweet, plum, red apples, jam.
    • Finish
      Sweet, full of dark berries.

An impressive young Penderyn. Very intense and sweet, but much too heavy for me on its own. It's a shame that it doesn't tolerate water well, otherwise it would be a great thing.
    • Nose
      84 84
Fresh and sweet. Menthol, slightly musty (mushrooms), almonds, slightly fruity (like chewing gum) on top of blueberries and plums. You notice the youth.

With 1 teaspoon of water: With water, a little sulfur comes through (gunpowder), the artificial notes become stronger, that means the nose is more beautiful on its own.
    • Taste
      82 82
Thicker and oily than expected, almost syrupy. Great chewable, but the alcohol is not without it. Very sweet, espresso, red fruits from the freezer, slightly bitter, but little oak.

With water: Unfortunately, he doesn't tolerate water well, the whole thing is more tangy than mild.
    • Finish
      79 79
      Medium long, tingling, slightly bitter.

For me personally, like many Penderyns, it is too intense and hot. Very sweet, artificially flowery, I am missing the round harmony.

This whisky is difficult to gauge and that makes it very interesting for the enthusiast. It's something different. In any case, you have to sit down properly.
    • Nose
      87 87
Sherry, but not the typical oloroso nose. Hay, sweet, chocolate, plums, raisins, light sulfur. Where are the fruity elements?
    • Taste
      89 89
What is this? Sweet, sherry, but no oloroso, nuts, raisins, plums, ginger, spicy dry. The alcohol is very present. He's not an easy guy, but very interesting.
    • Finish
      87 87
The finish is medium to long, sherry, spicy, ginger.

Too sweet for me, really heavy molasses and maple syrup.

Quite waxy, hay, dusty hay, some toffee, sharper acetone, very light sulphur, dried apricots and dates, quite a good dose of honey, cocktail berries, perfumed and a bit chemical, a bit of molasses.
    • Taste
      78 78
Surprisingly soft and light considering the ABV, very light burn, but it feels soft and wolly, and then it's really, really sweet. Molasses, muscovado sugar, very sweet cooked carrots, light toffee, chestnuts, woolly bitterness, some oak, but also the odd note of lanolin. Sweet and bitter. Second chew has a mouthfeel that's less woolly and drier, but it's even sweeter, like they added molasses to the mix. A bit of ginger and light smoke, but too heavy on the sweet to balance. A bit of sponge cake and shortbread cookies, I wanted to say waffless, but really only the maple syrup. Third chew is a bit more spicy, more ginger, some chili, but not much else.
    • Finish
      77 77
Heavy maple syrup, ginger, chili, very light smoke. Bitterness is gone, but comes back when sweetness has died down.

    • Finish
tart sweetness, chocolate, oak, becoming drier, medium length
