This bottling was bottled exclusively for the Union fan base by Deanston as the annual bottling 2020. I am very impressed because I expected the delicacy of the light and dry Fino Sherry but was then surprised by the color (mahogany-dark). In terms of taste, the nuts and dry notes confirm the Fino, while the raisins and chocolate speak for an Oloroso influence (maybe the pre-allocation before the Fino was an Oloroso?

Rum-raisins, rum-grape-nut chocolate, very nutty and dry.
    • Taste
      88 88
Again (pickled) raisins, very voluminous and powerfully full-bodied, hazelnuts, becoming a bit bitter like very dark chocolate (over 85% cocoa content).
    • Finish
      86 86
Dried out but very long-lasting (especially in view of the very young age of 7 years)

Interesting bottling, strongly fruity but still a bit young. Alcohol is not yet ideally integrated, chilli catch, even with water. The fruits are best without water, the finish is also great here. Should have tried.

with water: it becomes even sweeter and nuttier, chocolate also becomes very clear, the taste becomes even more extreme, apricots

Conclusion: a very decent bottling, which mainly relies on sweetness, but the distillery character still comes through. maybe something u young. The preallocation was definitely not a Bourbon cask, I would rather go for Oloroso barrels before the finofinish was added.
    • Nose
      87 87
nutty, dry sherry, tobacco, some leather, honey and oat biscuits, earthy, light roasted aromas, raisins and chocolate
    • Taste
      88 88
strong start, oily, sherry, raisins, mouth-filling, light pepper, strong sweetness of honey and a little caramel, then oak spice with leather and a few cloves
    • Finish
      87 87
medium to long, also here a strong sweetness, rum grapes, chocolate, nuts, some oak, on the back slightly dry without bitterness

I liked it very much, it's a shame that it was only a sample;)
Greetings and a thank you go out to the divider.
    • Nose
      92 92
Forest honey, dried cranberries, ripe strawberries, tanned leather, juniper.
The alcohol is very well integrated.
With a little water the fruits become more "yellow", pears and apples are added, a little ripe honeydew melon
    • Taste
      90 90
Thick syrup, oily sweet. Very fruity at the beginning (forest berries), then briefly hot until it becomes spicy.
A few drops of water could work wonders here ... unfortunately they don't. In terms of strength, the water does surprisingly badly, only a few drops and it doesn't become more complex, just a little less spicy.
    • Finish
      90 90
Long and warm, at the end honey, various spices alternate and a touch of vanilla in between.
