- maybe this bottle i tried turned bad for years????????
- Notes from a blind tasting:
The taste cannot quite keep what the nose promises, but the diverse aromas are well interwoven and the malt knows how to please
Sherry aromas rise from the glass accompanied by raspberries and currants. Raisins mix with coffee and roasted aromas before earthy and slightly mineral notes push their way to the front. Hints of old leather and the scent of a cigar box round off the nose. The nose definitely knows how to please.
The start is surprising. At first creamy and restrained with oranges, sweet figs and a hint of vanilla, before the coffee and roasted aromas accompanied by pepper also show in the mouth. Heather and dried herbs lie slightly in the background. Sandalwood and tannins show up.
Medium length, getting drier. Oranges and white coffee still accompanied by a light pepperiness mix with oak aromas.

- 8 yo - and such richness!
Round & complete & ripe & aromatic & real old Sherry cask.
Tasting with FineSpirits_butler1 on 2. Oct. 2015 -
with some eager friends: the 3 cats, Wootan Hippo van Rheen, Foxy, and last but not least: Wolfi Wolf!
Thick cooked cherry mass, dark chocolate, pleasant alcohol between solvent and 'UHU', sweet nut puree, honey (great!), spices, jams, peach, 'Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte' (also marzipan), scouring powder, toffee, mocha, leather, Demarara sugar, fudge, a lot of rose petals and old cosmetic powder;
then pepper, boullion cube, a bit vinegar, gravy, a little bit woodstain, juice of oranges & apricots & carrots & some mushrooms (!), tobacco leaves, sponge cake dough, apricots, cornflowers.
Cherries, oranges, citrus, honey, a little sourness, light jam, spiciness, leather, apricots, coffee ground, wood;
'blond' tobacco, dark chocolate, tartness, lemon peal, some maltiness of tart beer, cherry brandy, old hazelnut, corn flowers and rose petals.
Cocoa powder, leather, Demarara sugar, sweetness, citrus, lemon peal, then great spiciness with some wood, the wood mixed with pleasant card board, honey (wonderful), some 'earthy' (like humus);
then also 'Franzbranntwein, herbs from the kitchen, a hint of cough drops, the tart foam of beer, cornflowers and dried roses, old dry hazelnut.
- tasted a slightly different one which had 26 2/3 fl on the label (like the one that is for sale at Old whisky).
Amazing powerful old sherry whisky, a great Macallan expression that can not be compared with the Macallan that is out now.
- "Distillery-bottled for official Italian importer Rinaldi in the 1980s,
this is classic young Macallan aged in magnificent full-on sherry casks.
