    Meringue & Nougat

I’m quite naughty by revealing Clynelish immediately, for this is actually an ‘undisclosed’ malt. But when you label your release Unleash the Cline, well. I take full responsibility. This is the eight release already of these so called Mobsters on Mopeds, again very limited. Only 53 bottles. And of course bottle 53 of 53 is proudly displayed in my cabinet until I throw the complete Mobster series in one of my online tastings soon. YOLO.

The nose is waxy, but less than I am used to from this house. I rather get hazelnuts and meringue, Brussels waffles with whipped cream, juicy pear and something vegetal that is hard to pinpoint. Leaving it to breathe improves things. It becomes rounder, fruitier. Dates and sultanas, but also candied peach and figs. After five minutes, I even get light brown sugar and milk chocolate with praline filling. Complex nose indeed.

The body is oily, the malt sweet, sour and herbal at the same time. Vanilla and red peppers precede the fruit. Again somewhat atypical, but quite impressive. Nougat, praline again, but also vanilla custard and applesauce. Some rye bread. There is a lot going on here. I am having fun.

The finish makes it complete for me. Long, spicy, warm and somewhat drying.

I admit, this is not an easy Clynelish. Atypical. Not a crowd pleaser. Quite different from mid-1990s spirit in my book. But that makes it so interesting. And good? Hell, yeah.
