A good start for a new independent bottler. A really pleasant bottling that arouses curiosity about further bottlings from the house of 'Uncharted Whisky'.
    • Nose
Strong vanilla and toffee. A heavy sweetness that reminds me of my very sweet organic dates that I have as a snack at home. There is also a restrained seasoning and coffee beans. There are also lighter fruits in the background.
    • Taste
Ripe fruits with a distinct sweetness. In addition, a nice, deep, mild flavor. Dark caramel. Warm, soft mouthfeel. There is also a pleasant sharpness. Also some chocolate and a hint of liquorice.
    • Finish
Long, sweet finish, with nice spice and a warming feeling.

This Glenallachie from the new independent bottler Uncharted Whisky Co. convinces with its beguiling sweetness of yellow fruits, honey and butterscotch. The complete maturation in a first-fill sherry butt did not overpower the distillery character, which I like very much. The drinking strength of 50% abv is optimally chosen because after the addition of water, the Glenallachie clearly loses its sweetness and beguiling aromas. Truly a charming dram!

I thank deinwhisky.de for the complimentary sample!

    • Nose
Sweet and fruity on the nose with apricots, toffee, blossom honey and butterscotch. Very aromatic with floral notes, a touch of vanilla and some oak spice in the background.
    • Taste
Wonderfully sweet on the palate with toffee and yellow ripe fruits, mainly apricots. In addition, honey with vanilla and butterscotch, accompanied by a spicy oak note with cinnamon and some nutmeg.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long and pleasantly warming with toffee, some butterscotch, a hint of walnut and a subtle oak spiciness.

With water: After adding a few drops of water, clearly more floral notes on the nose, plus apricots and passion fruit, with sweet honey and less butterscotch notes. Clearly spicier on the palate with cinnamon, white pepper, oak and even some tobacco notes. Walnut and a touch of honey appear as well. Overall, clearly less sweet. The finish is still medium long and warming, with spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and oak.

I can confirm the vanilla notes, butterscotch and light fruits. I'm struggling a bit when I compare it directly to the OA 15. Sure, higher alcohol content. But otherwise?

It would be a really nice, mouthwatering, sweet whisky and the nose is extremely promising, but in the taste and finish the alcohol is badly integrated.
It is still a good whisky, but with better integrated alcohol it could have been a great one - Let´s see what some time in an open bottle does, hopefully I can update the review then.

Update after letting the bottle sit for 2 months:
It definitely improved a lot, the alcohol was much less pungent and overall it´s close to an awesome whisky now - I´m usually not overly fond of "cream candies", but this one is very convincing.

    it is very dense, compact
    he didn't like me
the nose is still OK but the palate and finish cannot keep up
    • Nose
Sherry becomes more, sweet apple, dignified oak notes, slightly raisins, banana comes, slightly red berries, pastries
with water: oak (somehow different), vanilla comes

from 1920s: sweet and sour note, slightly mineral, a lot of red berry mix
with water: minimal gum, chocolate ~ 65, raisin (heavily dried out)
    • Taste
      full, silky, oily
Oak, sherry, slightly spicy, raisins, a note that I cannot name
    • Finish
      medium to long
      warm, spicy, slightly sherry

with water: very tart-bitter, somewhat earthy

    A liquid cream candy!
    • Nose
Beguilingly sweet and creamy-creamy in the nose.
Caramel, tofee, yoghurt, raspberry cream candy, cappuccino.
    • Taste
As hoped, creamy and creamy in the mouth.
Still insanely cute. Very tasty and extremely tasty. Caramel, milk chocolate, a little hazelnut.
On the backside a little bit herbaceous and ginger.
    • Finish
      Liqueur-like. Long and sweet.
