Whisky Reviews for Invergordon 1965 HH

  1. Thermidor scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

I had this at a local bar, and for €14 a glass it was the best bang for your buck whisky of that night. This is a pitch-perfect long grain maturation.
    • Nose
A refill sherry cask? Sweetish, with an elegant old oakiness, a hint of glue, some butter, and milk chocolate. Then a mix of spices and sugars for a chocolate cake: fine sugar, vanillin, cloves. Then some black pepper.
    • Taste
Sweet and sugary, with that milk chocolate again. Could this have been a px cask? No obvious ethanol notes. Blackpepper, cinnamon, cloves, and a good amount of old sherry oak. The wood does give a bit of astringency to it, especially toward the finish, but it hasn't gone over.
    • Finish
A drying, woody finish enhanced by a resinous sherry note that coats my mouth well. Unusually staying for a grain.
