Well, go. Finally a great (and not too expensive) bottling from Bushmills. Bottling at 46% was a very good decision, the 6 percentage points more by volume compared to the usual 40% make an enormous difference. The finish in cognac barrels can only be described as extremely successful if you remember the standard 10yo. I would love to see more of this type of bottling.
    • Nose

A creamy, fruity and spicy first contact with the nose. Very attractive. Peach and apricot, strawberry jam, ripe blackberries. Not a trace of the green and grassy notes that the Standard 10yo conveys into the nose. Mildly spicy with marjoram and basil. Freshly brewed coffee, caramel, nougat, dark chocolate, honey, vanilla ice cream.
    • Taste
      88 88
Immediately confirms on the tongue the creamy impression it gave on the nose. Soft and velvety and yet expressive with dark chocolate, almonds, caramel, leather notes, spicy pipe tobacco. Nice fruity note that goes more towards blackberries and cherries. Well-balanced seasoning that ends in a pleasant dryness.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium length and slightly dry. Chocolate and toffee, almond butter, nougat.

Actually not bad at all but not so good that you need a whole bottle. Harmonious and round but also interchangeable. The 6% more alcohol than in the standard bottlings doesn't look bad on him.
    • Nose
      86 86
Great nose at the beginning, fruity-sweet with fresh wood. Then come peaches, apricots, dark berries (forest fruit jam). A bit of coffee, a bit of caramel, a bit of vanilla, but everything is rather subtle, looks like a baking mix, slightly artificial like fruit gum. Dark chocolate with honey and some tobacco emerges in the background.
    • Taste
      85 85
Soft, slightly tingling, with lots of fruit. Somewhat chocolatey, there are nuts and almonds, vanilla and toffee flavors in the background. Chocolate and toffee notes become a little more intense and give way to a dark, dry, earthy leather note. A subtle oak flavor accompanies the whole thing.
    • Finish
      84 84
Short finish, gets slightly dry with chocolate and some espresso,

The ten-year-old, triple-distilled single malt matured for 7.5 years in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.

    recasked: 05.03.2018

After a 2.5-year finish in rare cognac barrels, the whiskey was bottled undyed and unfiltered.

The whiskey is mild and easy to drink - but it doesn't leave a lasting impression on me!
    • Nose
      87 87
The smell is the best: honey, citrus fruits, syrup, marzipan, elegant alcohol
    • Taste
      84 84
mild, fruity, few taste impressions - everything disappears quickly, easy to drink, somehow like "Mon Cheri cherry"
    • Finish
      85 85
      mild, long, warming

    • Nose
      88 88
Sweet and fruity, butter, spices, cake batter, honey, over time it gets a little fresher and there are grated leaves and green tea.
    • Taste
      88 88
At first I would have blindly guessed a barrel of rum. Less sweet than the nose suggests, a bit drier, grassy, with a few fruity notes at the end.
    • Finish
      87 87
Rather briefly and quickly alcoholic, yet somehow "round".

Sweet fruity nose, creamy in the mouth with lots of apricots and vanilla and a nice oak note on the back
