Inchgower is always such a phenomenon with me. I either find them brutally cool, or just poop. This one is exactly my thing. : love:
    • Nose
Great ... I love it when the cork squeaks when it is opened and closed.

A bitter leather note greets me first. Nougat and some dried tobacco. I think this combination is awesome. I can tell that he wants a bit of air. Gets sweeter ...
With a little time in the glass, the sweetness comes through better. Brown sugar and raisins. Plus an oily constant. Something like walnut oil. Behind it hides a fresh, floral note. Cherries come through better. Lovage and clove spice. Some salty caramel and damp earth. With more air, a roasted nut aroma develops. I like it very much. Especially that kick of dirtiness.
    • Taste
Strong, sweet - spicy start. Then immediately a slight chilli heat. Which brings a certain dryness. Ahh ... then it gets sweeter and creamier. Followed by more dark berries, which are more sour. The tart leather joins it. And bring the lovage again. Which looks a bit dried out. Juniper berries and a bit of asphalt steam in the background. With the second sip, I find the walnuts clearer. Which bring a certain bitterness. Dry pastries.
    • Finish
Medium length. First wanted to write briefly, but my colleague will be back. First sweet and pleasantly spicy. Then a slightly bitter espresso bitterness spreads. Then has something like dry block chocolate.

When I tried this for the first time, I thought "uh" the worst whisky I've ever had, a case for the Coke bottle.
BUT it should turn out differently:

Fresh from the bottle it burns in the nose, alcoholic with sweet glue, the first sip burns down even the sweet, the 56% alcohol is poorly integrated.

If you dilute with water until it almost no longer sticks in the nose (approx. 42%), the nose remains sweet with tones of sherry, raisins, walnut (bitter) and coriander (soapy).
The taste is now (too) heavily diluted, sweet with a slightly bitter walnut, almost no finish.

2nd attempt: do not or only slightly dilute and let it breathe for a long time, the alcohol has to go!
The taste remains stronger, again raisins, walnuts and coriander become stronger, short finish.

An intentionally left over residue was after 12 hours. easy to drink and not overly oxidized.

This is not my absolute favorite now, too little complex and hardly any finish, but also not a case for the cola bottle ;-)
