This is so much better than the current NAS Cask Strength releases from Glengoyne! Much more intense, complex, fuller, richer, balanced, you name it... Too pity that they have switched to No Age Statements some time ago. If you can still find this one, it is well worth it!
    • Nose
      90 90
Very intense light fruits of all sorts, malt, wood.
    • Taste
      92 92
An explosion of flavors. Apricots, raisins, figs, honey, toffee, malt, significant spicyness (cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg), oak. A very complex dram!
    • Finish
      91 91
      Long.

Woody and spicy, not too complex but solid - you can definitely add some water
    • Nose
      90 90
Fruity, cooked fruits, apricot, little dried fruits, nuts and raisins, hints of acacia honey, sherry wood, spices - pretty good
    • Taste
      89 89
Punchy, oily, little liquorice, little sweetness, more dried fruits, nutty, old wood, spices, dates, dry hay - not bad
    • Finish
      88 88
      Long, warm, spicy, water recommended

Surprisingly sweet and sweet for a raw cask. No violence on the horizon, on the nose. There is also some milk chocolate, and some dust. Subtle evocation of sherry. In mouth, big impact, correct integration of alcohol. Intense fruit reminds us of the use of a sherry cask. The finish is a little too marked by alcohol. With water, the dust is gone and we focus on greed. In the mouth too, except that the spices become a bit too biting, and are not helped by alcohol. Enthusiasm 3/5

Pleasant, young, strong, surprisingly dry, after a fairly sweet background in the fragrance, and with such a fortress. At a fairly young age, very good and rich flavor and finish, the fortress here successfully compensates for the shortcomings of youth, the Molot came out more vivid and memorable than its older brother 17YO.
    • Nose
      Dense, fresh, mineral-woody, heated stones moistened with drops of summer rain, stone dust, sea-wood, carpentry, thinner, lemon peel, in the background - light honey-floral tones, lemonade, Montpensier;
    • Taste
Oily, spicy oak, oak a lot, dry, resin, varnish, lemon, fruit sour.
    • Finish
Peppery-oily, dry enough, warming, lemon in tea, spicy oak, here it already goes background, dried sour apples, unsweetened dried apricots.

Bottled unchill-filtered, the 12-year-old cask strength expression has a clean
nose, with just a hint of sherry, plus malt and fresh fruit that is extremely
enticing. Water brings out emphatic brittle toffee notes. Smooth, well-balanced
and decidedly malty on the palate, with a hint of dark chocolate, this is rather
moreish. The fruity finish also brings notes of lingering Espresso coffee.

with water: Pear and vanilla are stronger in the nose now
Much better with water in the mouth, the complete mon Cherie experience now
with a lot of dark chocolate the finish was better without water than almost always

a nice whisky that really needs water to shine properly
a Glen who is not so glinnish;)

    an always welcomed dram
    • Nose
soft cherries swim in the salty water of the harbor, vanilla with floral notes, slightly nutty and always salty water with cherries
    • Taste
a lot of cherry, dark chocolate, alcohol, a mon Cherie experience
    • Finish
Medium long, slightly alcoholic, a lot of wood, slightly bitter,
      > Salt, cherry, ship wood - arrived back in port;)

  12. Wild Thing scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

Not to enjoy undiluted. He also does not get much better diluted.
    • Nose
Sherry with caramel and a strong alcoholic touch. With some water, for me no change.
    • Taste
Alcohol sharpness and not too short, peppery. With some water, oak spiciness, sweet and some fruit with citrus notes.
    • Finish
Medium long and spicy with alcoholic touch.

    • Nose
leather, tobacco, blackcurrants, a tad yeasty (83)
    • Taste
sweet, malty, creme brulee (86) yeasty notes seem to come through after a while here as well (81)

  14. granella2003 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Nose: Quite a light nose, although the strength is there. Very spirity with a zesty, apple punch. Water brings a menthol note. Sugar cane, toffee and butterscotch coming through.
Palate: Sweet pears, garden apples and charred oak.
Finish: Rich and dry with oak smoke

  15. granella2003 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Oak, sherry, biscuit, banana, apricot, peaches, marzipan and hints of vanilla. The scents are softer than you might initially expect from a cask strength
    • Taste
A thick and rich texture with soft and sweet flavors of sherry and chocolate followed by black pepper
    • Finish
      Very long finish, very tasty

  16. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur
