The nose is a bit non-descript, but as soon as it hits the palate this whisky comes to life. It's a beautiful balance between sweetness and spice.
    • Nose
Lightly spirity, lemon, fresh and clean, but maybe just a hint of bung cloth.
    • Taste
Creamy vanilla fudge, toffees, lemon and a little white pepper.
    • Finish
More peppery and spicy here. It fairly zings on the tongue.

Nose: A lovely burst of vanilla, with a certain balsamic quality to it. hefty amounts of Coconut and some Banana bread, with an addition of ginger powder that adds a bit of spiciness to it all. A good example of text book Bourbon barrel maturation and grain characteristics.
Palate: Alcoholic with bitter wood and quite some of that! Vanilla and some Coconut again. Reminds me of vodka. Yes. Grain vodka. But with that woody edge.
Finish: Oak wood and spicy finish.

Not a bad example of good old grain. Not Exceptional, but certainly offers a nice opportunity to try an older nice single Grain. Try getting hold of a sample if you are keen on whisky and would like to experiment.

Far from bad, to be sure, but a little to sharp to be
really stunning. Reminds me a bit of a cheap bourbon, which may not be entirely
fair. Around 55 EUR, which is actually dirt cheap, but not easy to get a hold
    of nowadays.
    • Nose
The nose is quite sharp. Very alcoholic with
unmistakable hints of superglue and wood. Vanilla, coconut and banana ice cream
rectify the situation quickly. Hints of buttermilk. Not very complex, though.
Adding water makes coconut stand out.
    • Taste
While creamy on the palate, that too is sharp and
bitter, despite the best efforts by the honey and coconut to keep it sweet.
Loads of oak and caramel. Hints of orange peel. It loses punch quickly when
adding water and does not become better, so leave the aitch-2-oh.
    • Finish
The finish is somewhat zesty, but now the oak really
starts to shout. Water softens up the whole.

    • Nose
Somewhat Redbreast-y (12yo), sweet, honey, lemon, a few faint berries. With a slightly more grainy/savoury note, some candle wax, ethanol, wood glue & faint cocoa powder. (84)
      A bit later: fresh/seabreeze & a touch of smoke, but a bit starchy o,  ethanol/paint thinner o/-. (81)
    • Taste
Again, lots of sweet malt aromas again reminding me of Redbreast, quite a sweetness attack, honey,  cherries (artificial / liquor), vanilla syrup, but all pleasant & interesting (86)
    • Finish
turns dryer, even slightly bitter on the finish with a touch of white chocolate. (83)

This is a very nice grain whisky, CJ, and I would like to thank for this amazing sample. Nose, taste and finish are all top. The nose is so good and the palate is even better. The finish is superbe.
