A very sweet smell - chocolate with nuts, raisins, prunes, vanilla, frosting, cloves. The taste, for a change, is tart, lime, smoked plums, salt and leather. Finish with anise, mint, licorice, sage and some cloves.

    S 7
This is a blend with single malt whiskies aged entirely in ex-oloroso cask, from distilleries in the Glenlivet region that's famous for their sherry cask maturation.
The result is almost a sherry bomb. It's definitely a cheap buy for sherry drinkers. However, it's quite oily on nose and can be a let-down.

    N 23
    - Toffee
    - Quite oily
    - Raisin
    - Very deep, oaky flavour underpin the nose

    P 26
    - Predominantly sherry
    - Intense dry fruit & raisin
    - Still feeling the oiliness

    F 24
    - Mid-short finish
    - Vanilla lingering
    - Mild raisin note

Aroma: strongly burgundy, also sherry, dry, raisins, cherries, compote fruit
Taste: is clearly sherry, slightly spicy with a hint of ginger and compote fruit

  14. YD84 scored this whisky 65 points Expert Senior

My 30ml sample tasted like Craigellachie new make spirit (which, as you might probably know, is one of the more challenging new makes). Maybe I was unlucky and got a bad batch, as everyone else seems to like this. Not one for me unfortunately.

  15. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Nutty sherry, dark fruits, not very balanced.

  16. FritzeKrautman scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

That’s a positive surprise. Powerful start, strong sherry influences and a sometimes crass impression of lemon cola make it exciting. In addition, an eternally long finish and a price of around 40 euros. Purchase candidate.
    • Nose
      88 88
Spicy and grassy beginning, then vanilla, unripe apples floral. Later ripe grapes, cola lemon, cinnamon. Later nougat and solvent
    • Taste
      87 87
Strong malt, kitsche, wood, honey, spices. The alcohol tingles and is a bit peppery
    • Finish
      87 87
Long, warming finish. Bitterness, spices, wood, ginger, nut. Strong alcohol

Little better than the original bottling at regular strength of 46% abv
    • Nose
      82 82
Some butterscotch, little leathery, little vinous, hints of nuts and raisins, little farmy, hints of dried fruits, whiffs of sherry
    • Taste
      84 84
Punchy, little oily and creamy, more raisins and vinous notes, subtle sweetness, little leathery, little spicy, hints of sherry wood
    • Finish
      83 83
Medium long, warm, spicy, little leathery, more raisins and vinous notes

  18. thijs100 scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Adding water is recommended but I still find it a somewhat challenging whisky.
    • Nose
A little more closed, which might be the high abv. Somewhat spirity as well. Notes of fermented mash and cherries, with plenty of barley husks and toffee. Finally a whiff of leather and subdued orange notes. Water brings out marzipan.
    • Taste
Sweet at first with some caramel and fudge, but also plenty of spices and fairly oak-forward. Touches of leather and tobacco. Much creamier after a little water. Whispers of cinnamon buns too.
    • Finish
Drying and spicy. Sweeter after a little while.

  19. Cubey666 scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

red fruits, bit alcoholic, roasted sugared nuts, toffee, apples, leather.
    • Taste
      83 83
red fruits, nuts, quite smooth, bit of red pepper, bit of leather and sulphur tones, but not distracting or negative
    • Finish

quite wood driven, red fruits, red peppers, chocolate, mocha, cherries

What a nice blend! Strong but not unpleasant, taste of chocolate and fruits and a great long lasting finish. Mouthwatering!
    • Nose
      81 81
      Sherry, dark fruit and spicyness
    • Taste
      82 82
Peppery start that quickly moves over to a chocolate-ish taste; finished off by dried apricots and a warm sweetness.
A drop of water enhances the dried fruit.
    • Finish
      81 81
Long lasting Sherry with a hint of pears

    Color: dark copper
Nose: a robust, earthy nose with warm copper, cinnamon, ginger and delicious warm berries and cherries. Eastern influences from Baklava also emerge.
Taste: a wonderfully classic “sherry” whiskey with warming oak, raisins and currants and again that wonderful spicy influence.
Finish: the tongue stays “warm” for a long time with that full combination of herbs and dried fruit.
