Clearly spicy, slightly tart, the fruits move into the background and become fresher, slightly bitter wood notes are noticeable, some vanilla, light orange notes.

Slightly dry, tart, spicy, almost a little alcoholic, musty fruit note.

Apples (yellow, red, and green), with a nice finely granulated spice through it (such as nutmeg and white pepper). It doesn't wow, but is solid, well done, tasty, and super chill. It would make for a good daily sipper.

  4. Ringstone scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

Very balanced, sweet-fruity-spicy, slightly drier on the finish without bitterness. Pleasant to drink for sherry lovers.

Sugary stewed fruits and toasted bread. Orange marmalade, soft apricots and pears.
Wax, some riper sherry-derived fruits, raisins and even a hint of cooked meat.
    • Taste
      87 87
Nice oily texture. Apricot jam, canned pears, mouth-filling sweet waxiness.
    • Finish
      87 87
More sherried on the finish. Sweetened dates, jams and a nice oily waxiness. Maraschino sherry

    Nose:
Vanilla pastry, canned fruit mix, hazelnut. Some gooseberries in the background
    Milk chocolate, rum raisins. figs

    Mouth:
Milk Chocolate, Rum Grape Nut Chocolate with Cinnamon. Hazelnut and walnut, figs. Canned tangerines, a very subtle sour note, white currant.

    Finish:
Here rather dark chocolate, the oak is most present in the finish. But not intrusive, sweetness and fruit are also present as a counterpoint.

    86/100

Conclusion: I really like it. For my personal taste and from the bottlings tried so far, G&M hardly have any negative outliers with sherry casks (ie sulfur or too crass oak), and this one tastes great and "classic". The sherry cask rounds off nicely and is not too obtrusive.
Could be a bit more multi-layered and complex if I had to make a point of criticism

A solid whisky. Not more but also not less. The fruits are rather light on the nose and appear a little youthful. In the mouth it then has a pleasant mouthfeel and good strength.
You can drink it, but you don't need a large bottle.

Drank right after the Linkwood 25 WID: 119331

I like it a lot too. He cannot deny the same DNA as his big brother, only the depth and complexity in the nose and mouth are missing. At the finish, the 3% more work wonders.

Otherwise it is much fresher in the dry nose, more characterized by lighter fruits and the rum pot from 25y.o. is completely gone.

It is also fresher in taste and has a bitter taste that is not particularly harmonious. The rest is already very much in the direction of the 25, but much more light-footed.

The finish is carried longer by the alcohol, but offers no new facets.
