    From Whiskyfun,

Benriach 30 yo 1976/2007 (55.5%, OB, Richly peated, Port finish, cask #4469, 798 bottles) Colour: orangey – reddish. Nose: kind of a mix of both Port finished Benriachs we just tried. Obvious vinosity but it’s not unbearable. Once again, peat works as an anti-wine of some sort. Seville oranges, Fanta, pepper, Campari. ‘Pleasant’. Mouth: very close to the 1984, just a tad softer and rounder despite the slightly higher ABV. Ripe kiwis. Fructose, icing sugar, bubblegum. Finish: long but very sugary and uber-fruity again. Liquorice allsorts, jell-o, crystallised pineapples. One of the sweetest old whiskies I could try as far as I remember. Sincerely, I think this is excessive, but once again, just my opinion., no gospel and no bible of course. 77 points.

    • Nose
Restrained, not as fruity as the legendary 76s, apple brandy, dried red fruits, certainly the port plays its part, some tropical fruits still, well not much.
    • Taste
Very thick and oaky, raisins, blackcurrants jam, very hot and spicy, light tropical fruits, very minty afterwards.
    • Finish
Medium to long, red fruits, orange candy.

The aroma is rich, sweet, thick: a lot of old wood (barrel, varnish cabinet), sweet berries and berry jam, citrus (orange jam), a bunch of spices and chocolate, a light fruit sour. A drop of water does not change anything. The taste is sweet, spicy: wine notes, berries, oranges, spices (pepper, vanilla, cinnamon), chocolate, astringent astringent oak. A little bit burning. In the end a light smoky note. With water more even, soft, but more bitter. Aftertaste : astringent oak with light bitterness, berry jam, spices, a hint of smoke. Long, dense. Conclusion . A fine port wine mole. Thick, sweet, well-groomed. The aroma is very good, the taste is a little bit too sharp. A drop of water softens the taste a little, but adds unnecessary bitterness. Probably better without water. The score is 90 (n23t22f23b22).

Medium to thick-bodied. Great whisky with fantastic depth and development!

Tasted blind as the 12th whisky in my 2016 whisky advent calendar.
    • Nose
Sherry, old oak, almost powdery fruit caramel, hot cacao, citrusy furniture polish (pleasant), some freshly cut herbs, nuts coming after a while, wonderful wood-spices, cream with some freshly cut summer's grass, woody light toffee, berries (raspberries?), a pleasant and faint sulphury note, freshly made four fruits tea, more complex and richer over time, some treacle, quite "dark" and heavy malt, a touch of raisin/prune, some dusty fruit candy (pleasant). Some honey develops over time. Complex.
    • Taste
Treacle, sherry, fruit candy, sulphur (pleasantly so), cream mixed with wood and honey, fresh peat, herbs, an amazing range of spices, faint fruity rubber (pleasant), some nuttiness, some butter at the very end.
    • Finish
Long - sherry, old oak, a tad of sulphur mixed with some candied grape fruit in a beautiful way, herbs, heavy and 'sherried' malt, a tiny bit of powdery smoke and nuttiness.
