Uncomplicated, fruity, summery and incredibly tasty. This whisky for 40 euros is a magnificent deal. I mainly like heavier profiles, but this one can please me with any dram.

I tasted this 2020 Arran 10 side by side with an old Arran 10 from 2008 (WB id 235). This one is much darker in colour (similar to the 21 years old!). Less refill oak, probably more first fill bourbon, sherry or even virgin oak cask? Tastewise it is also heavier, did they start to produce a heavier distillate? Unfortunately it looses steam after the very nice nose.

Fresh citrus fruits (bergamot!), banana, apple, vanilla fudge and freshly baked bread. It's quite aromomatic and even had a dusty 'old' edge. Very nice!
    • Taste

Some citrus fruits, star fruit and pear. The bread returns on the palate. It becomes more oaky and green spicy after a while, with some mineral water and a subtle plastic or soapy offnote. Less convincing than the nose.

Fruity (citrus, apple, kiwi), a warm spicyness, some caramel, vanilla sugar and that weird plastic offnote.

    • Nose
That’s an impressive nose after just 10 years! fudgy with caramel and vanilla, fruity as in orchard fruits and forest fruits, fresh herbs like oregano and dried basil.
    • Taste
Very thick, creamy body. It gives loads of caramel fudge, vanilla and butter at te start. While, a little later, more oaky flavors appear. It’s not so much fruity on the palate.
    • Finish
In the medium length finish which feels quite syrupy, again sweet flavors is what you get.

Pleasant stuff, but you’d better like the sweet stuff since this is quite like a liquid candy store!

An excellent example of real drinking whisky. With the aroma and taste of young oak and a good bourbon barrel. The best combination of price and quality in recent years that I have met.

    Appearance: Pale to medium orange-amber.

Nose: Malty, fruity and spicy. Lots of citrus. Quite complex. Peach, cinnamon, caramel, vanilla, tobacco, toast, oak, ginger. Definitely seems to be bourbon cask dominant.

Palate: Malty, sweet caramel and vanilla, oak, citrus, cinnamon biscuits. Bit of banana.

Finish: Malty sweetness, oak, spices. Apple.

With Water: More honey malt sweetness in the nose. Softer malt flavor. More ginger spice.

Overall: Very good depth and nice bourbon cask character. Very good value indeed.
