- N: Initially very creamy, Vanilla, gorgeously soft, creme caramel, tinned fruits (pineapple, apple, apricots), some banana custard and a hint of slightly acidic raspberries. With the apple and cream comes a memory of a SV 10yo Clynelish I once had.
T: Much like the Dailuaine for me where the taste, although perfectly acceptable, doesn’t quite live up to the nose. Basically the nose in a simpler form. But less character. After some time in the mouth, less sweet, raw fennel seeds, some other spices I can’t put my finger on adding heat (perhaps ginger), and a grassy note on the finish.
The addition of water tones everything down bringing out more sweetness which, for me, isn’t needed as it feels more characterful without.
Certainly a drinkable dram, and at rrp £55-60 well priced. But, although I don’t believe in seasonal whisky, perhaps a dram more for spring/summer.
