    Great stuff!
After 7 1/2 years in a Bourbon barrel it is as complex as others after 10-12 years.
You have to give it some time in the glass before you drink it ... then it delivers a wonderful bourbon sweetness and the properties of the American oak come across very nicely with its vanilla notes. The smell of lemon is also very noticeable before adding a little water. Adding water makes it even rounder and opens up its variety of flavors even more to the nose. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated despite the almost 58%.
All in all a great whisky that represents the Bourbon barrel storage very well!

One of the first casks filled at Wolfburn, this one was bottled from a 120l Refill Bourbon Quarter Cask.
The nose shows purely the essence of the Wolfburn distillery profile, but indeed very concentrated. The nose is sweet and malty. Hints of caramel, grain, bananas, and a very slightly hint of smoke. On the palate the sweetness explodes with a big bang of alcohol. Then it evolves to more a more complex character including a very nice dryness. Aromas from toffee, again banana, maybe some pear and a little salt. The finish is rather dry. A very interesting evolvement on the palate.
This one loves water. Even a lot of water. Its getting much easier to drink and the aromas are coming better. With water some vanilla and citrus is instantly appearing.
Very interesting dram for the curious mind. Purely (without water) not for the faint hearted. Should not be the starter in a tasting, as it loves getting a lot of air before drinking. A lot to discover with this one.

My first thought was unripe green pear, the second was fruity, vanilla. I drank it too early because it is very alcoholic. If he lingers in the glass for a few minutes, the ostensible alcohol note disappears. In both cases it has a lasting sweetness on the palate. Water is his friend, but I am not a friend of water. But in that case very recommendable. All in all, an interesting whisky from very early production by Wolfburn.
