Today he gets almost 90 points, on another day it could be only 89 points.
There could be more depth for it's age and there isn't really any complexity. Everything that counts after that can be found here in the impeccable beauty of an older bourbon-aged malt.
Great pleasure, but it does not differ from the many beautiful representatives of its kind.

Apparently aged in bourbon casks. Reminds of a good to very good grain with sufficient power. Many notes of vanilla, peach, almond cream, marzipan, but no surprises. This is also reminiscent of a good grain, because although I like grain, their beauty is unfortunately often a bit one-dimensional.

No miss notes, no edges, no alcohol sting.

I prefer such a whisky in the glass than a strong, 55% strong and about 15 year old "Sherryberg", which hides its weaknesses behind exaggerated PC sweetness.

      89.5 Glencairn
Pleasantly intense for the percentage and the rather mild nose.
The sweetness is filigree and slightly tingles on the palate. It doesn't offer any surprises here either, but for a whisky of its profile it just about achieves what I personally consider the best possible grade (90) of such beautiful but - apart from the beauty - also boring malts.

Almost long, but above all a great sweetness with some oak and fully ripe honey, pineapple and peach fruit.

NOSE: Obvious bourbon barrel notes; Dried and fresh ripe banana, vanilla, troipcal dried fruits, cocnut shavings. Sweet almonds and hints of marzipan. Lovely. (90-91p).
TASTE: The arrival is both bourbon fruity and quite green. On the mid palate green rather than yellow fruits. Creamy mouthfeel. (88p).
FINISH: Mild pepper. Bourbon. Medium length. (84p).
OVERALL: A wonderful nosing whisky with lots of bourbon notes while in the mouth it is quite different. Total score 88 points.
