Not sure what to say, very lucky to have obtained this unique and very limited bottling from @smwsamerica. The distillery of this spirit is one of the most world renowned, a favorite of Neil Peart! Going off the bottle, single cask, first fill ex-bourbon. Very different from what this distillery usually releases, yet the spirt is very identifiable.
Seriously, wow. Reminds me of an aged Japanese whisky in a lot of ways.
Floral, buttery lite caramel (toffee), marzipan, vanilla oak and oak spice but a little more on the nutmeg side. The bourbon influence is present but very subtle and not overpowering. Nectar gives way to honey, gives way to rounded and warm malt, then funk. Almost that sherry funk but without a sherry cask influence; very clearly this particular distillery, quintessential scotch. In the long it's Granny Smith apples and not artificial in taste either, very natural. Just a tiny splash of water makes this beast very friendly. This is a bottle to share.
