What a grandiose, complex, nuanced nose. A first class old style sherry cracker.
A tick less complex and convincing in the mouth, but that is whining at a high level. Balanced, ground.
    • Nose
      93 93
Beautifully complex, harmonious nose: fruity and nutty old-style sherry.
Dusty raisins, figs, prunes, dark cherries. Leather, tobacco, the finest old oloroso sherry, also polished oak. Fresh slices of orange. Beetroot. Everything is well interwoven and balanced. Extremely deep, nuanced.

      I could smell endlessly.
    • Taste

Round, silky start, then many intense - but fine - spice notes come up quickly. White pepper, cinnamon, cloves. Leather, tobacco, walnuts, figs, cherries and raisins. Full and balanced. Pencil, dark chocolate.
    • Finish
      91 91
Intense, extremely long, persistent and beautifully balanced.
Again the great oloroso sherry, tobacco, leather, raisins.
      Nutty, fine spices.

Good spicy oloroso feeling, probably Glenfarclas?! 90/91.
    • Nose
      91 91
Sherry, honey, vanilla, raisin, dried fruits and spicy oak.
    • Taste
      91 91
Powerful. Tannic oak, sherry, milk caramel, mandarin, pepper and ginger.
    • Finish
      90 90
      Long, bittersweet.

Tasted at Vroenhovense Whiskyfeesten 2017 13/14.

Thanks for opening especially for met Jurgen! (Whiskyhuis)

THIS is what we call oldschool sherry: big polished and not over the top.

(To me it seemed a Glenfarclas)

  5. Dede scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

An archetypal malt of what can be an old Speyside sherry.
    • Nose
Oloroso galore! A bowl full of sherry, full of tart mandarins, chocolate, raisins, coffee liqueur, with nice notes of cedar. Classical and classy.
    • Taste
The power and the texture are perfect. We find the nice tangy notes of the nose (mandarin, Cointreau), the delicacy starting this time more on praline than on chocolate, with a very beautiful rancio and tannins mastered, and always a fresh note of resin or cedar.
    • Finish
Long, tannic and chocolatey, it has a very slight astringency.
