Charming and still full of strength from a relatively well aged dram.
Open up with scent of fine leather couch and an old book, with layer of
rooty peat envelop the heavily charred cloves, creme anglaise, hawthorn
and lightly sugared black tea. Some grassy fresh parsley. P- Firm and concentrated flavours from a fine cask, crisp lemon drop
with maraschino and other alluring compote of citrus fruits. Resin mouth

F- Long and lasting, smooth with compote of exotic fruits and wood extracts.

Another interesting holeside. The oak is very dominant and the nose, if rather shy, with a great variety of flavors.
    • Nose
Very interesting nose, oak, herbs, a bit musty, root vegetables, slightly rotten orange and a hint of peat. So unusual, says Lochside. Not so present, rather discreetly holding in the background. You have to sniff it hard. Over time, he still rewards with a slightly refreshing acidity and a few tropical fruits.
    • Taste
In the mouth he is much more direct. The (not too dominant) peat smoke is the first to be replaced by the oak and the slightly herbaceous sweetness. Overall, he is in the mouth but rather dry. You can tell the age.
    • Finish
Dry, slightly herbaceous, sweetish, some tobacco and oak bitterness.

Very good. Need time for it to open but after it's a fruit basket.
    • Nose
After a long aeration: very fruity (exotic fruits and mandarin), soapy notes. A little resinous, tobacco and honey and more fruits.
    • Taste
Very powerful. The palate is ultra fruity: exotic fruits and also apricots, and a touch of citrus. After this wave of fruit, the mouth becomes more woody, a little more austere and bitter. There is also cooking.
    • Finish
Long between the fruits and saline side that makes its appearance for the conclusion

    Color: dark amber
Nose: first surprisingly peat smoke, barbecue, caramel, chocolate, creamy sweet and then light fruit flavors, very strong and even slightly phenolic
Palate: huh, light smoke, exotic-fruity-spicy, smoke! (old Bowmore (70s) like) a bit of alc, nice strong and again spicy-sweet cream sweet. Finally, the barrel and again this Lochside shows typical fruit flavors.
Very masculine and takes a lot of time

A dram that takes time, a lot of time. Leave it to him, you will not be disappointed.
    • Nose
      First observation
    • Taste
The complexity of the nose is in the mouth. The attack is exotic and almost effervescent, evoking briefly a soda tropical aroma. A slight hint of smoke, then sweet notes of Pina-colada make their way before being submerged by a surge of acidic citrus and exotic (mandarin, and especially a lot of lime lime). The finish shows the bitterness of lemon zest and the spice of ginger.
    • Finish
Long, in the prolongation of the mouth, tart and slightly bitter.

  6. SilentStill scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Very nice and wonderfully round nose with a clearly defined variety of aromas. On the palate powerful but somewhat simpler structured. All around a good, but not outstanding malt
    • Nose
Immediately very prized, lots of hay, a pleasant sweetness spreads, then a slightly musty soil, which emphasizes the overall rather dry character well. Tasty dry biscuit waffles mix after a while under the not overly hefty 54%, but which are perfectly sufficient to bring out this holeside in the nostrils well.
    • Taste
Tobacco leaves, quite bitter on first appearance, then again strongly malty, traces of dry fruits in a peculiar bitter-sweet composition. Something powerful than in the nose.
    • Finish
light afterburner with decent length, the variety of aromas of the nose remains unequaled.

It is always nice to taste a Lochside and this is a good one - rich and complex with a lot of notes resulting from the 29 years in the oak cask, without becoming an oak juice.
    • Nose
Mainly grass and green tea with additional notes of cinnamon, tropical wood, white coffee, oranges and smoke. Whilst the oranges are well hidden behind the grassy, leafy and woody notes, the smoke is pretty obvious. A tasty combination - nothing wrong with the nose.
    • Taste
Warming and tasty with a rich flavor. Plenty of tea - peach flavored concentrated green tea. And lots of notes from the wood - namely resinous, liquorice, pepper and toffee. Then there is tonic water.
    • Finish
Long with notes of wood extract without the unpleasant dryness but becoming spicy and slightly bitter.
