  1. Calmar scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

    An excellent sample of wine aging, a very wide palette of derivatives, many shades and half-tones, very juicy, thick, perfectly balanced, whole, not very complex and deep, but this does not spoil it at all.
    • Nose
      Open, moist, juicy notes of furniture varnish, old furniture, noble woods, burnt rusks, dried fruits - prunes, a lot of raisins; sweet, slightly fermented shades of fruits and berries, wine tones, burnt jam, coffee, dark chocolate, earthy motifs, pu-erh, sweet creamy derivatives - boiled condensed milk, fudge; cigar box, pipe tobacco, rotting foliage;
    • Taste
      Powerful, rich, thick, sweet notes of dried fruit, burnt jam, pu-erh mixed with furniture varnish, oak, tobacco, a little ginger, teriyaki sauce, coffee; fried nuts, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, dark beer.
    • Finish
      Spicy, warming, coffee, creamy shades, ginger, teriyaki sauce, pipe tobacco, dark beer, burnt caramel.

      Very sweet! Clear as day, evidence of the port cask. Slightly creamy. Cherries and chocolate.

      Woody and spicy. Cherries, creamy. Honey and vanilla.

      Medium-long. When the bitterness of the oak subsides, it holds a nice creaminess, with added vanilla.

  7. QuarterCentury did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    This fantastic single malt was named "European Single Cask Whisky of the
    Year" by Jim Murray. He awarded it 96.5 points, placing Penderyn Port
    Wood amongst the best whiskies in the world in his Whisky Bible. There
    are just 207 bottles of this, at an impressive cask strength.

    Each bottle comes in a hand
    crafted oak box, and the bottles are signed personally by the master
    distiller, Dr. Jim Swan.
