I'm having trouble with the rating. I can drink it well, but the malt is really closer to sherry than single malt
    • Nose
      76 76
Tasty, but very poorly integrated alcohol
    • Taste
      85 85
Pure sherry. Delicious. If you only want sherry... not whisky...
    • Finish
      80 80
Unchanged. Relatively short for the alcohol strength.

Yes, a typical Elsburn. Anyone who likes the sweet, barrel-heavy products from the Hammerschmiede will also like this Cozy Winter, the name of which says it all. Tasty, tasty and sweet, it meets my taste today.
    • Nose
A deep sweetness, honey-crusted roasted nuts, maple syrup, baklava, plums in alcohol.
    • Taste
Sweet, subtle wood, roasted peanuts in honey, dates, sultanas in rum, chocolate and sweet wines.
    • Finish
Roasted honey nuts again, gingerbread, roasted aromas. It leaves a soft oily feel and the taste of Baumkuchen.

    • Taste
      86 86
Sherry, spiciness, raisins, dark chocolate, sugary sweetness, spice, oily
    • Finish
      84 84
      Sherry, sweetness, spice, oak

Plums again, intense start, slightly sour, strong sherry influence, very spicy / woody, pepper

Dry and spicy, medium length, light campfire smoke

Strong fruit notes, slightly nutty, like walnut. Very own character. Pleasant sweet. A very peculiar / unique and difficult to define note, but I really like it. Sweet, greasy smoky notes? Light sherry dried fruits.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweet thick sherry soup! Dried fruits, very oily, almost viscous, great spices, slightly tart woody note, chocolate, raisins, dates, really nice sweetness.
    • Finish
      87 87
Slightly dry with spices, pleasantly sweet, still oily, associations of a slightly greasy smoky note flash out.

This whisky is a huge disappointment, especially for the high price.
Completely overloaded with aromas, far too sweet, plus unpleasant, damp, musty wood smoke notes. This taste cacophony first covers the young character, which then gradually joins it with a certain sharpness. My guess is bad seasoned sherry casks, but maybe it's wood smoke too. I have no idea how to fill something like that in bottles and bring it to the customer. Really bad! Even diluted up to 40% no pleasure.

    • Nose
      88 88
Gingerbread, frosting, tangerines, gingerbread, raisins, dates, cookie dough, gingerbread
    • Taste
      87 87
Mineral sweetness, dry fruits, chocolate, oranges, spicy pastries, oak, overall lighter than the aroma.
    • Finish
      86 86
First dry, stimulates the flow of saliva, oak, spices, barley sugar.

  11. Daniel Hohleweg scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      88 88
Nice heavy sweetness, raisins, oak, leather, gingerbread, cinnamon, light bacon smoke
    • Taste
      84 84
Dry sweetness, raisins, a light oak note, behind it light smoke.

The nose promises more than the mouth. At first something is missing here.
Overall a round mouthfeel, but the nose does not match the mouth.
    • Finish
      85 85
The fruitiness and the oak remain. There are also slight smoky notes behind it.

Well-integrated alcohol. A little too light in the mouth to expect the aromas on the nose.
All in all, a pleasing malt for cold winter days.
