So, according to my highly subjective feeling, that could well be a Glenfarclas. The nose develops great with air and on the palate it has a great body for strength. Doesn't need water, but a few drops won't immediately thin it out.

The same amount of old wood - spicy, "dusty", maybe even a bit musty in a positive sense - followed by juicy, sweet and creamy aromas from the barrel: plum jam, orange peel, dark chocolate, macadamia and cashew nuts. Funny: at the first try I was sure to be able to detect light sulfur (gunpowder, match head, sooooo minimally rubber), but at the second try from the now slightly ventilated sample I can't find anything like that. But now more oak than the first time. What has stayed the same is a sweet and sour basic impression, somewhere between plum cake and long-matured balsamic vinegar. Over time it becomes more and more umami-heavy (soy or gravy), the sherry influence begins to take up more space. The orange aroma is also stronger, there is something spicy and exotic (turmeric?), The wood moves further into the background, and now I have to say that there seems to be a distillate with a good body and character: nice and heavy and oily, with lots of flavor. Initially, I got 88 points - it's good that I split the sample over two days that were slightly longer apart.

Spicy start, juicy-sweet-sour, but also with a lot of dry oak. Nice, soft, creamy mouthfeel, full of body. Quite mouthwashing due to a pronounced but pleasant acidity that seems to come entirely from the (classic, dry-sour Oloroso) sherry. Tart towards the end, still refreshingly sour, slightly bitter, astringent. Very nice and very classic sherry influence, zero sweet or syrupy, actually oscillating back and forth between dry / sour / tart all the time. Here, too, orange peel, dark cocoa powder, plus a few pastry notes (speculoos?). Not quite as balanced as the nose due to the strong acidic focus.

Charcoal, plum brandy, spicy orange, balsamic vinegar, espresso. Very consistent and quite long. At the end of the day I got a clue about black powder, but only very weakly and fleetingly.

I like it very much, the highlight for me is the interlude in the mouth, great combination of nutty roasted aromas and the tart orange, the very oak-heavy nose is the only small drawback for me
    • Nose
nice dry sherry, slightly nutty, good oak load, some furniture polish, grated orange peel, almonds, it looks very ripe on the nose, now and then chocolate flashes, a pinch of pepper, overall more wood than sherry in the nose, after the first sip , intense almond, now towards marzipan
    • Taste
A lot of oak in the beginning, then chocolate, creamy, nut, roasted aromas, tart, orange, also raisins, then a short sweet interlude, combined with the orange, good mouthfeel, delicious, the middle part is really great
    • Finish
the oranges become sweeter and tangerines, clearly nut, hazelnut, pleasant, slightly sour, sweet, lasts a long time, the oak keeps flashing

    Unusual but very tasty!

    • Nose
Cloudy, slightly reddish amber rests in the glass, a thick streak sticks to the glass wall of my Premium Snifter from which occasionally long and syrupy "legs" detach. Sweet caramel and toffee dominate the nose with sweet trophic fruits, plum jam and juicy orange notes, with a minimal sulfur note in the background. Ripe and fermented fruits, again liquid caramel and a touch of wet leather and sweet tobacco followed by an incredibly soft and sweet fruit mix or fruit salad, this aroma of fruit salad from the can reminds me a little ...
    • Taste
The first sip flows softly over the tongue, sweet fruity notes end in watered down sherry and balsamic vinegar. The aroma is incredibly complex and layered, sugar beet and hints of cough syrup in combination with dried grapes and berries. Exotic spices followed by raisins and dates, hints of rotten wood and dusty cocoa powder ... the aromas change every second!
    • Finish
Long and warming with a musty note of wood and fermented fruit aromas. Again exotic spices in combination with "liquid" sherry and a hint of sulfur.

A magnificent nose, very deep and complex, with almond powder, crushed apricot, "dulce de leche", macadamia nut, with a crazy alcohol integration.

The taste is very melted, round, sweet palate, with honey, a hint of coffee, stewed fruits, some spices and a kind of bitterness but very well balanced.

A finish, medium to long, subtil and complex, rather focused on spices, cappuccino, a little honey and again this bitterness here.

Very good whisky with a spiy & fizzy finish as a strong recognition factor. If I will ever taste this dram blind there is a good chance I remember that.

Honey, malty, few pickled cherries, fresh, some new leather and dried fruits.

Spicy, great wood and dried raisins (which come along with a wee touch of sulphur)
    • Finish

Medium long, with a light & lovely bitterness, spicy and fizzy!!

Very nice Speyside, even better after a few days with a little air. Leather and caramel / toffee on the nose. In the mouth a lot of caramel / toffee, some mocha, very creamy and good power from the alcohol. Finish very creamy, tingling and long. Very well done, great dram that is really fun! Tap an Oloroso barrel.
