Doesn't taste as young as stated, the complexity is right there for you to explore, it could well be Laphroaig as others suggested.

Sand by the sea. Sweet moss peat, wet burnt wood, cedar, subsequently became vegetative like beetroot. Seaweed. Fresh lemon, sour plum and dried fig slices especially near the rim bottom of the glass. Chinese hawthorn, gooseberries, salty pineapples, green apples. Let it breathe in the glass, butter, vanilla. Peat was left in the emptied whisky glass.

Green grapes, asparagus, melon, pepper spiciness at med to low strength, light wood, cedar, wet woody peat, a bit of barnyard, earthy, dark chocolate, smoky diluted fruit green tea with a tiny twist of lemon zest. Complex.
    • Finish

Light wood, smoky honey green tea, not-so-ripe crispy green melons, peat and earth, herbs, tiny bit of dryness, chocolate powder. Tea leaves lastly.

The good things first: I like that the alcohol is extremely well integrated, that the initial tingling is very nice and the very nice creamy mouthfeel. Well, and that's about it... Aroma-wise, we're not going to be friends. Disharmony at its best.
    • Nose
The smoke makes an amazingly delicate impression. Citrus notes and the smell of overripe fruit dominate the nose. The alcohol is very well integrated.
It starts with shallow campfire smoke and ashes. After pouring, a fine hint of cowshed scent comes through, which fortunately disappears again within the first few minutes. Notes of overripe to rotten apples and pears linger longer, but they harmonize over the course of 10 to 15 minutes. That makes me a little forgiving. Add vanilla, heather honey, salty sea tart, lime juice, broth (meaty), toffee. With a little more imagination, I could also speak of passion fruit.
    • Taste
Strong start with a nice peppery sharpness. The alcohol is also well integrated here. On the palate it makes a slightly creamy impression. The flow of saliva is slightly stimulated.
Ashy smoke, caramel, honey, overripe to rotten fruit again, sea salt, vanilla, grilled pineapple, fine citrus notes, dry wood.
When I read through what I have just written, it sounds more beneficial and interesting than it actually is here. In my perception, the problem here is that the aromas described tend to stand side by side and actually do not harmonize well with each other.
    • Finish
Mid-length finish. Some ash, vanilla, musty/overripe pear, citrus notes.

Fruits and peat all the way !

A fairly simple dram, not that complexe, not giving that much, but really enjoyable for sure.

A sample of 5cl is enough, even if i appreciated it.

The malt itself is fairly straight forward. However while it does taste characteristically of Laphroaig, it also has a tinge of Bowmore-like tobacco notes along with some bright fruity notes. Quite tasty really. The cask, while seemingly transparent, has left enough sweetness for the malt.

My only gripes would be that very slight hint of metallic notes in the mouth and that it tastes slightly watered down. The former is very minimal and you have to really dig to find it, and as for the latter it doesn't really detract from the experience either. Perhaps the dilution (if there was one) has made the dram more balanced.
    • Nose
Peaches, tobacco leaves, ashy smoke, black & red peppers, sea spray, very slightly soapy
    • Taste
Sweet peaches, grilled pineapples & lemons, ash, seawater, oily texture, very slight hint of metallic notes
    • Finish
Tobacco leaves, seaweeds, caramel, fairly long

Relatively straightforward and straightforward. A good freshness in it, but it doesn't look too young. Good harmony between smoke and the bourbon barrel.

For me a decent Islay malt in cask strength with age. Not more but also not less. He doesn't make any real mistakes, but neither does he excite me. I wouldn't be willing to pay the 120 € or more for it. For example, I have more fun with a Laphroaig 10 CS or an Ardbeg Corryvreckan.

    Very pale, young but flawless
    • Nose
      Ash, very pure.
    • Taste
Good integration of alcohol, ash, mineral, white pepper.
    • Finish
      On the ashes.

Very nice Laphroaig, sorry Secret Islay :-) He can't hide, the distillery character is too clear for that (my personal opinion). The usual peaty-smoky and medicinal notes, plus a nice sweetness and a good hint of vanilla. The alcohol is nicely integrated, nice and round for its 12 years with a good medium to long finish. Tried the small residue from the sample bottle again after 2-3 weeks, now even rounder and softer, I've reached 90.
