The classic from the Blair Athol Distillery scores with fine tuning and a solid character.

Blair Athol 12yo Flora and Fauna 43%. Consumed June 2020. Dark orange but that's probably due to a spot of e150a. Aroma is chalky, faint raspberry, blackcurrant, some Ribena. Wow i don't think I've nosed a whisky that smells of Ribena before. Taste is juicy soft sugary very sweet and easy, pure honey vibes going on, some blackcurrant squash. This is absolutely pure bonkers. Not a rough edge within a hundred miles of this - it drinks like water. Slight woody notes. Faintest salt and even a touch of late peat. Berry fruit. This is hard to rate - the profile is perhaps closer to cognac than whisky, but it doesn't have that cutting crispness of cognac - instead it has a papery pencil sharpening dryness lingering into the finish. It's very enjoyable and a bit of fun but I wouldn't really want to drink a full 70cl bottle of this. (3.5/84)
